FS: Samsung Airave

Used for a few months, getting rid of it as I recently left Sprint. It's a personal signal booster/network extender for the Sprint network. Supports up to 3 simultaneous calls but access can be restricted online through your sprint account.



retails for $100, goes on ebay for $60, willing to part with it for $40.

Fuck that. I get shitty service at my house, but it would be cheaper to just get a home phone if those prices are accurate.

It's amazing how these companies can get away with charging you an extra $40 a month just to compensate for the completely shitty signal that you get with the $100/mo you already pay.

I might actually use one of these if I switched everything over to cell (instead of a landline business phone.) Wouldn't be a bad idea - and not too much more than ooma pro.

But they're chargin' me like $15/month for unlimited minutes? Seems steep, but I guess that depends on usage

The pricing is a bit misleading. It's $5/month to use minutes included in your plan.

The 'unlimited' options come into play when/if you want to purchase airtime beyond what's included in your plan for use exclusive through the Airave.

It's pretty hard to go over your airtime on the sprint network, so I never payed more than $5/month for this thing, with basically unlimited calling. Most plans have: Any Mobile, Any Time - meaning your 'daytime airtime' is only used to call land lines. Most plans also include night and weekends starting @ 7PM, and they've also recently (but quietly) launched a program to compete with the Mycircle/Myfavs programs wherein you can select up to 5 numbers to call for free.

Even the cheapest VOIP plans start @ $10/month so overall I was definitely very pleased with my decision to get on board with the airave.

I'm going to ebay it if I can't move it here in the next day or so, I was really just hoping to save myself a trip to the post office.
