3/4/2010 5:47:59 PM

3/4/2010 5:58:02 PM
yarggI really want to see them, but my buddy's bachelor party is in Myrtle Beach this weekend
3/4/2010 11:19:28 PM
I feel like I'd like them a lot more live than I do recorded. I bet it's a fun ass show.
3/5/2010 11:42:36 PM
you need to see them with a drummer[Edited on March 6, 2010 at 3:34 AM. Reason : the good old days]

3/13/2010 10:22:22 PM
i can see my girlfriend in that video haha
3/14/2010 7:45:00 AM
^^ it was at nightlightthe sound is always fucking terrible therebecause they don't feel the need to have anyone stand at the board during the showpisses me off like crazyalso, they're the only local club that charges more than $1 for membership
3/14/2010 2:34:16 PM
pretty sure the reservoir and the local 506 costs $5 too...not counting the clubs that don't have live music regularly.[Edited on March 14, 2010 at 4:45 PM. Reason : addendum ]
3/14/2010 4:41:05 PM
when i joined 506 it was a dollarbut that was long agoi can't recall going to the reservoir
3/14/2010 6:30:33 PM
shows are free, and the sound is always awesome. ive seen a lot of great shows there. but you have to be a member or go with one on a night with a show.oh yeah, and the cave? thats a finsky too.
3/14/2010 7:20:12 PM
if shows are free then i'm not going to complain about $5 membershipi've been to three shows at the cave and never been asked for membership, so i didn't know what it cost therethis just goes to show that carrboro is awesome and chapel hill sucks
3/14/2010 7:40:46 PM
indeed

haha hell yes
4/18/2010 11:34:31 AM
Is that show at the Berkley sold out?Where in the fuck do I buy tickets?
4/20/2010 10:49:54 AM
At the door when you show up.The only two etix listings for the Berkeley are blues shows, and they're both after FI so I assume they won't be doing advance sales. It'll be crowded, but it shouldn't sell out. Just show up on time (because the show won't start on time) and you'll be fine. ]
4/20/2010 10:56:38 AM
Ok good. I even called and they said it should be listed on etix as well as being sold at the door, but alas - twas not.I was about to have a fucking meltdown

4/20/2010 11:44:45 AM
I know a guy who uses "I'm best friends with Future Islands" as some sort of pick up line. He also hits women and is perpetually unemployed.I'm looking forward to the May 4th show.
4/20/2010 4:35:42 PM
hahahahaha
4/20/2010 5:17:14 PM
as many times as i've name dropped those dudesi can't remember ever thinking "this would make a good pickup line"
4/20/2010 8:30:26 PM
I barely know them (and by know, I mean recognizing each other from seeing them 10+ times), but one time during a show some asshole wouldn't stop shouting song titles at them during their set and I had to say "look you assholes, I know these dudes a little bit, and I know they don't like being shouted at like they are a fucking karaoke band, so cut the shit"
4/20/2010 8:46:20 PM
I like In Evening Air a lot, and the show at the Berkley will be the first time I've seen them. The lead singer looks like Nathan Lane in the video for for "the happiness of being twice".http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HcnNS7WiLV4&feature=related
4/20/2010 9:38:53 PM
^^ So tuff & with an air of superiority to boot. I like it.
4/22/2010 9:07:06 AM
wtf is "acoustic" about that performance?Im going to see them on may 1st in brooklyn. should be fun.
4/22/2010 4:07:37 PM
the pianoand a dry, unamplified vocali'm sure they would've used a standup bass had one been available--also, you can preorder the album here: http://www.thrilljockey.com/catalog/?id=104666$13 for cd or lp (first 1000 LPs are translucent orange that goes with the blue of in the fall)$20 gets you either format plus a pretty cool shirt that william's girlfriend designed ]
4/22/2010 5:51:32 PM
show up to the berkeley early because whatever brains is playing first and we're better than every other band ever
4/24/2010 12:39:49 PM
4/29/2010 2:15:36 PM
YES(although I'm gonna wait til the show to buy my copy)
4/29/2010 2:17:01 PM

5/4/2010 2:40:29 PM
There's already 150-some people confirmed on their facebook page... Not sure how many people the place will hold, but I'd guess the facebook fans will still be a small portion of those in attendance
5/4/2010 3:00:46 PM
it holds more than 150
5/4/2010 3:03:37 PM
5/4/2010 3:05:58 PM
don't forget, this is a hometown band with a sizable following and a new record that's got some national buzzthrow in lonnie walker and i wouldn't be surprised if you can't get in after 10
5/4/2010 3:36:02 PM
just saw them on saturday in brooklyn and sooooooooo much fundefinately wasnt expecting a rowdy ass crowd with everyone raging.will see again
5/4/2010 9:34:07 PM
damnit, I missed the show
5/5/2010 1:09:26 AM
I'm intoxicated, sorry for the ramble.Me and my buddy were the first one's there at around 8:30; thought we were late, turns out we were early. Talked to the bands for a while while waiting for the doors to open, only had us and 5 others there when they did. Went inside, got our beverages, and left the bar just in time for a horde to come in. The first band (forgot who it was) sucked imo, but I don't like that loud punk bad musicianship B.S. We hit up the park across the street for a while and took a walk. Next two bands were pretty damn good; was too buzzed to remember most of them. Future Islands was incredible, hung out for at least half the set before my friend had to shoot back to Greenville. All in all good times; except for the first band; wanted to stab myself in the ear with them. No offense meant; I know a lot of people there were into it.Also, there was a hell of a lot of androgyny going on during the show. I couldn't discriminate genders without a close inspection of mounds after a while. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Also, the hipster level was high. I saw more Pabst cans around than should be legal at any event.Again, apologies for the rant; if anyone bothered to read this that is; I'm a bit less than sober atm. Good show though overall.
5/5/2010 2:10:32 AM
hahahayou just mad you couldnt tell that lead singer was a girl.that first band I probably would've liked if the sound hadn't been so shit.FI were good, and for $8 I don't think I've seen a better show.
5/5/2010 2:41:05 AM
Didn't get to hear every band, but caught Lonnie Walker and Future Islands. Both bands killed it. I had a great time
