What makes you say it's free? I found an advertisement on the website that said it was $9.95.

Downloading the software to watch the game is free.

Since I will not be able to watch it, it means the Pack will play well and might pull out a win.

That said:

Hokies = 84
Pack = 68

apparently we are still on the NIT bubble while Miami and UNC are already in (wtf?). Do they factor bullshit last minute losses to tough out of conference FL and AZ I wonder?

If you click on the area that says "sign in" on the link I posted, a popup will show, click on "free events" and you'll see the VT and NCSU game for tomorrow.

I'm gonna predict the end of this game:

We lead by 2 with a minute left. VT ball.

VT comes down and hits a 3. VT by 1. State ball.

State comes down and goes inside to Smith. He misses. VT rebound.

We immediately foul. VT hits both free throws. VT by 3.

We bring the ball down, looking for Painter to hit the 3. He's guarded.

We look to Vandenberg. He's guarded.

Halfway between the top of the key and the corner, Javi finds an open Dennis Horner.

8 seconds left.

Horner pump-fakes several times, with no one near him, until the clock expires.

because we would really look to painter to hit a three

because we would really have horner, painter, vandenburg, smith, and javi on the court in the final minute.

(it was a little funnier when you posted it before the miami game)

I have hard time getting that making fun of my own team is funny. But I'm fine with ppl doing it. Give Horner some credit as a senior and at least make some FTs.

You seriously asking this? No they don't. Every team can say well here we should have won so and so.

If Tracy Smith keeps his mouth shut we beat UofA and if we don't foul constantly UF we probably win that one too.

^not true mambaidiot.

if we win out and UNC beats duke we'd need BC to beat UVA just to force a tie. The only way we finish ahead of UNC is if they lose to duke and we win out

i want us to finish 11th for two reasons:

1) We'll get to play the Hoosiers!
2) Sid will win COY next year if he finishes anywhere higher than 7th

What's going on @ the N&O, giving us all this positive press?

http://www.newsobserver.com/2010/03/03/366786/smith-stays-positive.html

Quote :
"RALEIGH -- Tracy Smith leads N.C. State in scoring, rebounding and perspective.

Despite a trying season for the Wolfpack, which takes a 4-10 ACC record to Virginia Tech tonight (7 p.m., no TV), the 6-foot-8 forward has maintained a positive outlook, and not because of his personal success.

His mother's decision seven years ago to get him out of Detroit helped him understand basketball is both a means to an end and just a game. Despite the Pack's standing in the ACC, tied for last heading into Tuesday's games, Smith stays focused on his ultimate goal.

"I want to move my family out of Detroit," Smith said.

Smith's mom, two younger siblings and two nieces still live in Detroit near 7 Mile Road, which Smith calls "probably the worst" part of the economically depressed city, in an area ruled by drugs and crime.

Smith barely knew his father, Tracy Allen Smith, because of the street violence in Detroit, said LaShawn Lester, the Wolfpack junior's mother. Smith's father was a victim of his surroundings, Lester said, dead before Tracy's second birthday. Lester was only 18 when she gave birth to Tracy and promised herself her son would follow a different path.

"I wanted Tracy to break the cycle," Lester said. "There was just so much negativity around him. I wanted him to get out of Detroit and give him a chance to test life."

So when Smith was 15, Lester sent him to Mount Zion Christian Academy in Durham. A family friend in a Detroit youth basketball league knew Antonio Fozard, then the coach at the Durham high school which emerged as a national prep basketball power in the late 1990s. "It was tough at first," Smith said of leaving his mother behind. "I was homesick, but I got used to it and found my way."

Wolfpack coach Sidney Lowe saw Smith play at Mount Zion and signed him to the same recruiting class that featured J.J. Hickson, a McDonald's All American who played the same position as Smith.

Smith got to N.C. State in the fall of 2007 and proceeded to wait, watching Hickson parlay one season as the Wolfpack's leading scorer and rebounder into a spot in the first round of the NBA Draft. After playing sparingly as a freshman, averaging 3.3 points per game, Smith began his sophomore season as a reserve. He broke into the starting lineup, though, after a 17-point outburst against Boston College in a Wolfpack loss on Jan. 24, 2009.

"I remember that game like it was yesterday," Smith said. "I came in and scored and got us back in the game. After that game, Coach told me I would be starting and to be ready."

His numbers are up in every major statistical category. He ranks sixth in the ACC in scoring (17.1 points per game), eighth in rebounding (7.9) and first in field-goal percentage (54.3).

Smith has become one of the ACC's most productive players and has done so with every team focused on stopping him, often with two defenders.

As Virginia Tech coach Seth Greenberg put it: "You can't stop Tracy Smith," which is why Greenberg wants the Hokies to force someone besides Smith to beat them tonight.

"He's such a good player," Greenberg said. "He uses his body [so well], and he has great hands."

Despite Smith's strong individual performances, State started 2-10 in the ACC, losing seven straight in the conference at one point. But Smith's resilience and positive perspective have become contagious on a Wolfpack team that now has won two straight.

"We lost seven straight, but we never hung our heads," Smith said. "We've kept fighting."

To Lowe, that's the biggest progression of Smith's game. He has quietly led the team with his selfless personality.

"Tracy has come a long way," Lowe said. "He has continued to get better, and he's going to be even better next year."

Smith removed any mystery about next year by announcing his decision to return for his senior season last week. Smith's numbers suggest he's ready to jump to the NBA. The NBA can wait, Smith said, because he's on track to graduate next spring with a degree in Africana Studies.

"I'm so proud of him," said Smith's mother, who's hoping to move to the Triangle this summer to be with her son. "Tracy will be the first one in our entire family to graduate.

"I took a lot of static from my family when I sent him down there, but I knew it was the best thing for him. I can't imagine where he'd be right now if he'd stayed here."

All Smith has to do is remember where he came from to know where he wants to go.

^^ while I love Smith as a player, I still do not see how he will make it in the NBA. He is simply too small and does not have the athletic ability that other guys his size in the NBA do. I do think he can play in Europe and make a nice living off that though.

nobody thought that David Robinson could cut it in the NBA, but he made a pretty good career out of it

i think Tracy has a good chance, if he can develop a mid-range jumper. that's the only thing keeping him from being a draft day lock

I generally agree. He has an outside shot as an NBA contributor as a Rodman/Barkley hybrid if he continues to improve his rebounding and becomes a strong post defender. He could earn a great living in Europe, though.

uhhh what? The Spurs drafted him 1st overall in 87, despite knowing he would be doing a 2 year stint with the Naval Academy...plus he was a 7-footer. Why would the Spurs use the 1st overall pick in the draft on a player who they knew they wouldn't get for 2 years? Probably because they thought he could cut it in the NBA genius...he also won the Naismith and Wooden awards...I really hope you meant somebody other than David Robinson

Smith does have good hands though...can't teach that

Tracy could be a Elton Brand/Zach Randolph type player but I don't see it happening.

I see 2 years in NBA....then on to Europe with the rest of most of our players.
