Does anyone know if this is any different from Empire?

Well I haven't played it yet, but just going by things I've read on forums:Obviously it starts 100 years later, and the campaign lasts for 8 years with 2 week turns.Graphics are better along with a bunch of added details for immersion like better battlefield music (fife & drum), better artillery effects, better smoke, etc.Apparently the AI has been significantly improved. The battle AI seems to be somewhat better, tehy still do dumb things sometimes but overall are much smarter. The Campaign AI is apparently much improved, and diplomacy is actually valuable now.

This thread title looks weird because it doesn't say Tptal War

lullzin other words this is what empire total war should have been, i STILL think there needs to be a overhaul of the game and a expansion to push the end date to 1900, you could have pre-dreadnaughts and ironclads!the basics of land warfare didn't change terribly much during this entire period anyways.

Yeah. I'll stick with the darthmod of Empire until this is $14.99 on steam.

I didn't realize this was already out -- it always seemed so far away.Downloading on Steam now for after class tonight.

Do any of you know if the International Version will fold in okay with the US version? I saw this on sale over at GoGamer's 48 Hour Madness sale, but it's the International version.

So this game is much better than ETW.

I've been struggling to balance this game with Bad Company 2 and Heavy Rain, but I've gotten some playtime in.I'm through the first two Napoleon campaigns and I have to say I like it a lot. Everything is better-looking and the loading times are lower. The unit variety is better, as are a lot of the campaign mechanics. Your generals finally matter in a number of ways, also.My main complaint is that I had gotten the impression that "supply chains" would have to be maintained in order to keep your armies from wasting away. In reality, though, supply depots can be built at few locations, a "chain" isn't required, and they only help you regenerate troops a bit faster (since you can no longer just pay to replenish your forces). Moreover, the much-touted attrition only happens in deserts and in frozen terrain during winter.Overall though I recommend it to anyone who liked ETW or thought it was a bit lacking.
