I'm probably living in an apartment next year, and was looking for suggestions on where to live. Right now it looks like we'll be living in Wildwoods at Lake Johnson, does anyone have any experience with there?

I've got a friend that has been apartment hunting for places away from the campus. The places he found in Cary are 10 times nicer than 99% of the apartments "for college students" with very comparable prices. The way I see it, if you are going to be driving anyway, you might as well drive 10 minutes instead of 5 and have a nice place to stay. Legacy at crossroads is the only name I can remember though.

I'll chime in for Sumter Square.http://www.sumtersquareapartments.com/I liked the place, it was like halfway between the Harris Teeter on Western & Crossroads in Cary, so it was close enough to campus & for shopping/movies & grocery runs. And now that there is a Sonic nearby, I'd almost move back to Raleigh just for that

^ Agreed! When I transferred to State my roommate and I got a great deal on renting a house over in Five Points. There's some great deals if you're willing to drive an extra 5/whatever minutes. Honestly when you get up there junior/senior year living right by campus shouldn't matter that much as in theory you have your connections already. Sure there's the lazy / roll out of bed factor if you have an early class, but by this point you should be able to pick classes that aren't early if it's a problem. There's also the CAT bus which NCSU students/employees can ride for free if you aren't near the Wolfline.

I lived off trailwood in u-woods one year and absolutely hated it. I much preferred my next two years in clarion crossing. Better ammenities and management and I never heard any noise from college kids partying. And it was within walking distance of a bar

I lived in an apartment off of Gardner St right next to the rose garden for a couple of years in college. By far the worst apartment but also by far my favorite. We'd blow out the breakers in the kitchen just about every time we used the microwave. The bedroom and bathroom doors didn't shut so we had to install slider and hook locks on the doors. We had to go to the creepy basement to do laundry (shared washer and dryer with 6 units in the building). But damn if a <10 minute walk to class wasn't worth it. Exactly half a mile from my front door to the front door of Broughton.I think the landlord restricted his tenants to grad students and older. I was a senior, but my roommate was a grad student, and we did a good job of convincing him we weren't going to have any parties, so he let us in.

Don't live at Trinity Park. The only positive about that complex is that it is walking distance to Carter-Finley and RBC.I had a positive experience at Lantern Square off of Ramblewood Dr. near north hills. It is a very cheap apt complex, but has been kept up nice. Best of all, walking distance to North Hills, so you get all the amenities of the wealthy for the cost of a college budget.Wilds Woods is nice though.

I loved Wildwoods... Lived there for about 3 years. The management is very nice. I know the manager and stop in ever so often to talk to her. They have a huge pool with a 8 foot deep end, jacuzzi and last time I spoke with her, she said she is turning the club house into a fitness room. All the trees are older and so its pretty hidden from the street and it backs up to Lake Johnson and you have access to the trails there. They are a bit older, but if you have any problems, they tend to work with you if you are good tenants.Theres a mix of people, but I think they heavily screen the right people.

+1 for Wild Woods, awesome place, mgmt is great, and the buildings don't catch on fire that often

I haven't lived at Wildwoods but the apartments I've been in over there seemed nice, and the folks I've known who lived there liked it.

UNIVERSITY SUITES is a great place to live. my townhome was hugh and they had pretty good aminuties. I like the management and they had alot of good stuff happening like free food alot of the time. I would look at UNIVERSITY SUITES!!

^ says the person who works at University Suites I've lived there, it was fine, just a step up from your usual 4-bedroom 4-bath make everything equal apartment. I've also lived at Kensington Park (ok, big, but not worth it), and am currently living at Gorman Crossings. Very nice management, great pricing, and (for obvious reasons) not as 'student'-y as any other place with the word 'University' or 'College' in the complex name.Renting a home >>>>> renting an apt or townhome, though!
