Just totaled my explorer looking for a nice replacement. I am liking the overall ruggedness of the xterra but like the room of the pathfinder what says ye wolfweb?

The rental pathfinder my dad had about two years ago had some god awful seats and rode worse than my Jeep Cherokee just going over bumps and potholes.

That said the build quality inside the car, while all cheap plastic, looked pretty decent.

While you're looking at japanese cars that you're not going to take offroad, look at a more recent toyota 4runner. My brother's car is fucking awesome and I'm stupid jealous that he has it. It's so fucking cool to lower the window on the fucking hatch of your car.

I'm pretty meh on both those vehicles. Neither really stands out.

Drive them both and see which you like best.

4 runner or QX4, same platform as the pathfinder with more amenities and HID headlights.

Beach off road around town, I like the room and being able to tow a trailer and fit everything I need in the vehicle. Have a 2wd truck already for play this is my daily and have to have something for utilitarian purposes so a car is out.

[Edited on February 19, 2010 at 10:13 AM. Reason : ps 4runners are much more for more miles and not under warranty til 100k like the nissan.]

parents had a new pathfinder a few years back and it was great, not sure what year you are looking at. they traded it in after a couple years though because it didn't have enough room for us plus the dogs. i really liked the ride quality but i seem to remember it being at the bottom of its class in fuel consumption.

xterra is hotter, pathfinder is probaby more luxurious but both are highly rated for off-roading

Damn I hate the dealership games

Also not sure which way I am leaning would rather have finder but xterras prices are hard to beat since there isnt really a lot of difference. Looking at 06+ after the larger redesign.

th interior in a nssan suv is so fucking cheap and crappy. the radio is from the late 90s and if you are tall they are very uncomfortable to drive. i drive one or 2 a week and with the seat all the way back my legs still feel like they are in the dash board.
