I'm talking in terms of general architecture, not a specific engine from a specific manufacturer.I know that V12's, I6's, boxer engines don't require harmonic balancers (I am excluding rotary engines from this). But is one clearly best in terms of balance and vibration? Can we "rank" these engine configurations, or are they similar enough that it comes down to the manufacturer's design?

An inline 6 is perfectly balanced, as is a V12.

Flat 12 is as perfect as they come.

If they're both perfectly balanced, do they both produce the same level of vibration?

inline/flat 6s and 12s all have no primary and secondary imbalances.

ELECTRIC!(did I win?)

Yeah... you can't do that coin test with a chevy v8
