I have my TWC cable box going to my TV with an HDMI cable. I have the basic white and red audio cords going from my cable box to my receiver which has floor speakers connected. All of a sudden, I can't get sound from my floor speakers. I tried, disconnecting the red and whites from teh box as well as the receiver, then hooking them back in, no luck. Then tried a different input on my receiver for the red and whites, no luck, then used different red and white cables on all inputs from the cable box to the receiver, no luck. I've tested all the inputs on my receiver with my Ipod and Y cable, so they all work fine. Any suggestions, I'm thinking it's the cable box?

look through the settings on the cable box to see if some audio output option was disabled.[Edited on February 12, 2010 at 12:54 PM. Reason : also make sure the cable box volume isnt muted]

Try plugging a regular set of a/v (yellow, red, white) cables into your tv from your cable box. Or just the audio. Regardless, this can help determine whether it's your receiver or the box

My box recently got some software upgrade/update that disabled some of the audio settings I previously had. Go through all of that with the fine tooth comb, it took me a few minutes to find what I needed to enable.

alternatively, plug the reciever into the audio out on your tv.
