pop quiz: who was the last player from ECU in the NBA?
2/7/2010 12:43:42 AM
chris johnson
2/7/2010 12:45:03 AM
I just think they are way too far off.I know NBA players live paycheck to paycheck, but they have an ego and I don't see them giving up money they already signed for on top of all the future concessions. The owners have so much leverage they have no reason to give in. They are mostly operating at a loss anyway, no harm in shutting down operations for a year.
2/7/2010 12:48:27 AM

2/7/2010 2:19:23 AM
100% YesThere will be basketball in 10/11 and 11/12
2/7/2010 9:58:42 AM
Whoops I was a little drunk last night, for some reason I thought it said the owners can cut it short by one season if they want to.Okay, change the topic to "Will there be a '11-'12 season?"My vote is still no.
2/7/2010 11:23:21 AM
NBA and NFL locked out in the same season would be epic
2/7/2010 11:32:59 AM
I think the NFL will work it out. Those players have really short shelf lives and they need to get paid while they can. Plus, the NFL is still fairly profitable for both parties. I feel like they will work together to get a deal done. The NBA owners will lose a lot less money by foregoing the season. Therefore, they have very little incentive to work with the player's union. The concessions they are asking for are off the charts, there is no way the player's will accept quickly. Rumors suggest they want to instill a hard cap, cut existing salaries by 20-25%, and make future guaranteed contracts a maximum of three years.... Those are all HUGE cuts that will take a big slice out of the player's pie.
2/7/2010 11:45:59 AM
I hope there isn't one.
2/7/2010 11:47:58 AM
as much as i dont hope it happens at all, an all-scab nba would be pretty funny.maybe jules can get to play!
2/7/2010 1:11:39 PM
well it must weigh pretty heavily on guys like wade, lebron, howard to lose a year out of their primes when they are trying to establish themselves in the hall of fameI actually think it would be less of an issue for the nfl because they age better IMO, to me nfl is more about the mileage so missing a season wouldn't be quite as bad
2/7/2010 10:39:48 PM
blue edwards
2/7/2010 11:42:39 PM
I think Lebron is pretty well established. The work stoppage of 98-99 didn't slow down the development of the up-and-comers of that time period (Duncan, Iverson, Kobe).Blue Edwards' career highlight was teaming up with Brad Lohaus in NBA Jam. That and having a Canadian made-for-tv movie about his child custody battle.
2/8/2010 1:42:41 AM
ok, while we're waiting to see what happens with the 2010-11 season, name everyone in this picture that isn't Rik Smits.
2/8/2010 1:52:07 AM
Is mobygames.com in the picture?
2/8/2010 2:48:51 AM

2/8/2010 3:12:20 AM
HMMM A REDNECK FROM NORTH CAROLINAYOU SOUND JUST LIKE THE NBA'S TARGET AUDIENCEI'M SURE DAVID STERN IS SHITTING HIS PANTS
2/8/2010 8:59:04 AM
Ask Shawn Kemp how the lockout did for him He gained 100 lbs.I just think there is no way the player's union accepts such gigantic concessions right off the bat.And the owners have no reason to budge at all. Almost all of them stand to gain immeasurably by forcing the players into their deal. The players have zero leverage because without playing they don't make money. And the owners stop hemorrhaging money while play is stopped.
2/8/2010 6:48:19 PM
hahaha, i always wondered why shawn kemp's career crashed so fast. what a maroon. and he's got like 17 illegitimate kids to care for.
2/9/2010 3:42:18 PM
WHAT A MAROON
2/9/2010 3:44:32 PM
2/9/2010 3:46:32 PM
Yeah but before all that he was titsIf you didn't have a Seattle SuperSonics Shawn Kemp jersey in 1995, then you should be punched in the face.
2/9/2010 3:47:29 PM
i loved the sonics...gary payton, shawn kemp, nate mcmillan, detlef schrempf, sam perkins...i'm forgettin a couple other guys on that team but man they were fun to watch.was hersey hawkins on that squad at one point in time? or am i getting my mid-90s 6th man, shooter-off-the bench players mixed up.[Edited on February 9, 2010 at 4:02 PM. NBA sucks
2/9/2010 4:42:52 PM
The NBA has been irrelevant since the 80s.
2/9/2010 5:51:37 PM
I could say the same for you
2/9/2010 5:52:14 PM
Slave famous just got nasty with it
2/9/2010 5:52:50 PM
My irrelevancy is a recent development.
2/9/2010 5:54:04 PM
I don't like the modern day NBA game...no defense...everything is 1-on-1...no team playGive me the 80s anyday...when teams were scoring 125 points a game and Michael Jordan was breaking down defenders 1-on-1oh wait...
2/9/2010 6:20:41 PM
I would have said 90s, but I didn't want to support a former Carolina player.
2/10/2010 1:15:20 AM
if you think lebron and kobe are playing one on one then you just aren't watching. illegal defense made it harder to focus on stopping one guy.the athleticism has just made defense nearly impossible[Edited on February 10, 2010 at 1:20 AM. Reason : might be time to consider raising the goal a foot]
2/10/2010 1:19:52 AM

As I expected things went really poorly today in negotiations. The players are not going to be willing to accept the new realities of the American economy and the owners are not going to accept their team's being financial losers when their other businesses are struggling so badly.
2/14/2010 7:43:11 PM
^^I've got the Xavier McDaniel home jersey in that style
2/14/2010 8:00:38 PM
Wait, there's a possibility of the NBA not existing for a year? Where do I sign?
2/15/2010 5:19:06 PM
If the NBA gets canceled for a season, I wonder what changes they would make to the game.
2/15/2010 5:25:59 PM
I don't think there's any issues with the game itself...
2/15/2010 6:53:03 PM
I'd like to see the game go into a shoot-out after overtime.
