Is it inspection first, then registration, or the other way around. I don't remember what it is now.

How do I knew when I need to get an inspection done?

You have to renew your registration/license plate. You have to have the car inspected before you can do that. That should answer your question. In other words, look at the month on your license plate.

also keep in mind while you have a 15 day grace period after your registration expires (I guess b/c they mail it to you) you DO NOT have a grace period for your inspection. And that's a $155 ticket. Not that I'm speaking from recent experience

Thanks. That means I have 23 days to get rid of my CEL for random misfire on cyl #1.

if you buy a car, they say something about getting it inspected within 10 days, or something like that, if it's not current with an NC inspection

There's no grace period on inspections, but if you get a ticket and then get the car inspected the fine is waived.
