War....War never changes.

I like the phrase used in the first Starcraft II teaser trailer because it works on so many levels. "Hell, its about time!" hahabut this looks pretty sweet still need to finish playing Fallout 3 and then download the dlc's
2/4/2010 12:03:26 PM
super excited. i played fallout 3 and its DLCs to death.
2/4/2010 12:59:17 PM
^ me too and i usually don't play a game all the way through more than once. can't wait for this!
2/4/2010 6:58:54 PM
I played a few DLC missions but when my gamerscore got to 66,666 I figured I'd leave it there for awhile...but I just bought Mass Effect 2 so that will quickly changeTrailer looks good

I posted some extremely high-res photos (~10mb and 2000x3000) of the article in OXM that chock-full of exciting pictures and info about the game, so just click the link and check it out. After you open the album and click the picture you want to see, there is a magnifying glass next to the picture that will blow it up to its original size (after you blow it up it may be blurry for a sec). http://picasaweb.google.com/107356610149931892384/Untitled

Looking good.I like that the nightkin are the color of the original super mutants.I was actually hoping that all the super mutants would look more like fallout 1/2 versions, and that the east coast variety was just a different strain of FEV. No such luckThis is a fallout 1/2 mutant for referenceThey are larger and less athletic looking than fallout 3 super mutants.

According to this Amazon page, the release date of the game is November 16th. I hope they come out with some type of pre-order bonus, and/or a unique special edition like they had with the Survival Edition for Fallout 3.http://www.amazon.com/Fallout-New-Vegas-Pc/dp/B002SU4QG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1270816753&sr=1-1

Well it doesn't worry me too much since its not like they build and engine and textures from scratch. I think what he said can be translated into 'its not quite as original as 'we' at obsidian would like it to but if you loved Fallout 3 you're definitely gonna love this.'
5/4/2010 4:28:35 PM
WTF come on bethesda, how about a new elder scrolls
5/4/2010 4:29:08 PM
Its coming be patient, these games take a very long time to create.
5/4/2010 4:29:53 PM
^^Bethesda is not developing this one. They outsourced it to Obsidian.
5/4/2010 4:58:15 PM
I'm sure they have been working on the new Elder Scrolls since they finished Fallout 3. And I'm sure the graphics will be spectacular.
5/4/2010 6:00:03 PM
Yeah all that is true and I realize that, but I am just being the most reserved and positive as possible! I am getting it either way so its all good anyway.Oh yeah, I have long been waiting to play the Restoration Project, and I decided my next playthrough will be with it.[Edited on May 4, 2010 at 7:02 PM. A little gameplay footage. Looks just like Fallout 3 (and thats a good thing), and you will be able to ADS in combat.http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/14341976/fallout-new-vegas/videos/falloutnv_vdp_060310_v3.html?show=hi

if i'm into modern warfare 2 and COD4, but not really halo, will i enjoy fallout? saw this trailer today and was thinking about playing the first 2 so i can enjoy the 3rd when it comes out.
6/8/2010 12:25:56 AM
^I believe this is the 4th.
6/8/2010 1:02:03 AM
6/8/2010 2:06:02 AM
you will like this game
6/8/2010 2:22:44 AM
should i get fallout 3 and play through it or will vegas be worth the wait?
6/8/2010 2:44:19 AM
Get the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 for sure. It's a great game.
6/8/2010 6:32:22 AM
just remember dF...once you get into the wasteland...you might not mount up with the warriors for a few weeks!
6/8/2010 2:45:24 PM
hmmmm, i should pre-order the collectors edition.
6/8/2010 3:36:23 PM
if it's anything like red dead i will pop it in for 15 minutes and regret i spent $60
6/8/2010 4:17:44 PM
^same type of game but different story obviously. If open world RPGs aren't your thing I would stay away from Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. There is however a lot more depth to character customization and more RPG elements. Leveling system, classes, etc.[Edited on June 8, 2010 at 4:20 PM. Reason : .]
6/8/2010 4:19:40 PM
thanks.i'll just pick up another tom clancy game then later!/exeunt thread
6/8/2010 4:22:29 PM
^ No not really. Getting XP, leveling up and making a character how you want them to be, and discovering different things make it WAY different. That said I'd just buy Fallout 3 non-GOTY edition and see if you like it, then buy DLC for it.

I beat the RDR single player (most of it, still not to 100%) in roughly 2 days of gameplayI have played Fallout for probably 10 days of single player, including going back and doing other choices...the "good character" choices versus the "bad character" choices are much more in depth than RDR...RDR you just get a bounty for being bad, and outlaws look at you as friends...I mean you get store discounts for being good and honorable, and other store discounts from being bad when shopkeepers fear you...really not much of a differenceFallout is a lot more complex with the story decisions...early in the game you have a big choice to make which will affect where your first house is, if you have positive or negative (or neutral) karma, etcRDR's problem is its way too short of a game imo...Fallout 3 is not...You can play Fallout 3 forever]
6/8/2010 4:43:22 PM
Also, Dfshadow said he only played it for 15 minutes before regretting it. These are like 80 hours games and 15 minutes of gameplay is almost like not even breaking the plastic off of the package, and you can't even say you 'scratched the surface' in this amount of time. Games this long usually start of slow and don't pick up for at least a few hours. Also, RDR is limited in playthroughs (like one time for me and I don't care about 100%), were as a good RPG you can play quite a few time, as male or female (and get different perks perhaps for each sex) and build your character like you want to.

fallout 3 was just not for me...i don't think i like sandbox type gamesi loved the first few GTA games but got boredi like fast paced action games, first/third person shooters, or JRPGsi used to like everything i put in my game system but I guess when you get older you start to get jaded and learn to know what you like
6/10/2010 11:30:14 AM
I think it boils down to do you (as in general) want instant gratification, which could be due to short attention span or if you are a person that changes his mind/direction on a whim (maybe 'non-committal' so-to-speak), or do you like paths of logic that usually lead to gratification. You could be both, fall somewhere in between, or be neither and you just prefer games that don't leave much of a choice but to push forward and be involved in satisfying action. I think of myself of just playing a game for what it is, what I mean by that is I try not to compare any one to any other game, and if action comes, or not, it doesn't matter as long as I feel like I am working toward or partaking in something that stimulates me. For example, I could not like Diablo II, if I really compared the stimulation of it to the stimulation that I get from Fallout 3, or the stimulation that I get from Resident Evil 4 (which is my favorite game of all time). I just play. What comes or doesn't comes I will find out.
6/10/2010 12:21:36 PM
i think another factor is that i don't have all day to play games anymoreso playing fallout 3 for 1.5 hours is not very rewardingi don't like going through multiple dialogue choices about how a character feels about another character when i could just be noob tubing someone online
6/10/2010 12:24:26 PM
Ah, I guess you make a good point for yourself, but if you really like a game and want to play it, no matter what else you do, you're going to find time to play, even if you can only play one game at a time, and for short periods of time.
6/10/2010 12:34:14 PM
true...i guess i do seek instant gratificationok things i don't like about fallout 31. i really hate talking to most of the characters in town and listening to all the dialogue options2. its too easy3. the shooting is clunky / VATs is cool but that leads to #24. i do not like post apocalyptic themes / the graphics are DRAB5. fallout 3 for ps3 sucks (bug and freezes), the frame rate blows but that might be for all systems6. too many items to deal with7. i did not find the main story particularly interesting and the side quests put me to sleep
