actually I thought a lot of the reviews were disapointing, still though if they can just patch it like a pc game I think it could be awesome

I played the beta and thought it was decent. If I see it on sale I'll probably pick it up.

most reviews from looking have it pegged at 7-9 out of 10. quite solid for a fps debut, the biggest gripes are about the leveling (slowish) and the one account per psn account, again slightly annoying. i'm absolutely positive they will have add-on's and patches for this game, smaller objectives you can achieve if your command structure sucks for instance.[Edited on February 4, 2010 at 12:53 PM. The graphics on this game are amazing. It feels like a cross between COD and Killzone, except that you're playing with 64-256 people on a board. The maps are nice and spread out like the larger killzone maps, which makes the game seem more organized and less chaotic than groundwar on COD. And unlike COD, it doesn't start skipping around and acting funny when you get more than 10 people all lobbing grenades at the same time.

how is the command structure concept working out? do people actually follow orders and is your supreme commander fairly competent?

commanders so far are incredibly incompetent. They actually try to tell you to run up meat grinder alleyways most of the time and then bitch about everyone dying. I wish I knew what the microphone structure was, as far as who can hear me and who I can hear. I need to read up on it some more. Every now and then you'll end up with someone who knows what they're doing, and they make short work of the missions. I think once more people level up and are eligible to become officers in the game, the leadership will get more selective. Right now it's rule by who bought the game first.I think there are some imbalances between the three factions. I signed up as Valor, and we tend to beat up on Raven yet get dominated by SVER. It takes forever to kill them, and they're the ones that supposedly don't have much for armor.I'm startting to feel like one piece of the board in starcraft on some of these missions.

if i ever get this game i'm going Valor at first at least

I became eligible to be a squad leader, and the game got drastically different. I get orders from my commander and then I have to direct my squad. it makes 256 soldiers in combat actually seem somewhat organized. This game is definitely not a twitch shooter like COD. If you're wearing heavy armor and lugging around a lot of equipment along with a SAW, a person with an M4 and light armor can run circles around you. you have to lead moving targets with the sniper rifle, which I thought was cool. Friendly fire is always on, so you can't just lob grenades randomly or shoot into crowds. you have customizable weapons with, but you can only spend a set amount of money on each setup. after you get upgraded bipods and scopes for rifles, you can no longer afford to carry some ancillary equipment like smoke grenades or repair kits. You also get to select what features you want to unlock first as you rank up, which I liked. instead of upgrading to better weapons first, I upgraded all of my medical supplies for reviving myself and teammates to 100% quickly. I get a ton of points for reviving people in the field. The medical kits are what I think make the teamwork aspect work for this game. Instead of people getting on the radio to talk shit about how other people are doing poorly, people are asking for medics to revive them. Because you can revive teammates, you'll find that you stick in groups of 2-4 when trying to capture a favorable shooting position. You're encouraged to watch out for each other's blind sides and strategically decide how you're going to cross the board with your teammates. This game has the steepest learning curve of any game I've ever played, and there aren't any decent strategy guides online yet. I still don't quite understand what I'm supposed to be doing overall on the 128 and 256 player objectives.

I have a kickass PC, and I'd rather not but a PS3.So I'm getting Bad Company 2....and buying my housemate MAG.

I was pretty disappointed with all the reviews of this game. You could tell that NONE of them spent more than a couple of hours playing. The game is a long-term investment. I thought it was pretty mediocre myself until seeing my roommate hit level 15 or so. Once you get to the point of being able to lead a squad or a platoon the entire game starts to open up.He's like level 34 now, and I enjoy just watching him play. Seeing random players work together, help each other, coordinating strikes and asking for assistance, it is seriously engaging. It is absolutely the antithesis to CoD (but in a very, very good way). The fact that 75% of the time when you get killed you can be revived on the spot by a teammate changes the entire game dynamic. The "friendly fire always on" means grenades are used carefully, and mortar/artillery strikes from your command are VERY well thought out. You can't play the game without a headset really. Community chat adds another level to it (hearing your dead opponent asking for a revive as you sit prone behind his body is just mean - oh hello kill streak).Kills almost don't mean anything anymore, its so much more about tactics, objectives and teamwork.

it's cool hearing the voice communication of other people around you on the surround sound and not through the headset when your radio isn't set to that squad's frequency.
