Waltz is the only slam dunk that I see.
2/2/2010 12:25:11 PM
Avatar and Blind Side for Best Picture = lol
2/2/2010 12:26:56 PM
Moon should've gotten a makeup nod.Jarvis Cocker should've gotten a song nod.
2/2/2010 1:26:19 PM
2/2/2010 1:31:43 PM
I highly highly doubt Up wins best picture. It's only nominated due to the expansion(although I guess you could say that for five of these )
2/2/2010 1:33:01 PM
I'm just glad there are finally two decent films in the animated category for once.

Up was superb, but I'd hate for "Best Picture" to go to an animated film; it doesn't help to futher any acting careers.
2/2/2010 2:09:02 PM
I don't think "furthering acting careers" is the goal of the academy necessarily. The award should be for the best film of the year, if it happens to be animated, so be it.That being said, Up is not the best pic of the year. (IMHO, it isn't even the best animated film of the year as that should go to Fantastic Mr. Fox.)
2/2/2010 3:04:02 PM
Too bad it's going to win, lol.
2/2/2010 3:30:34 PM
The Hurt Locker is by far the best out of the best picture category that I've seen (I haven't seen An education and Precious). If Avatar wins anything other than best visual effects I will be disappointed.
2/2/2010 8:27:45 PM
Why the shit do you think Up is going to win?It has easily the best 20 minute sequence of any Pixar film, but the last 30 minutes or so are pretty weak and silly comparatively. No field expansion=no Up nomination.[Edited on February 2, 2010 at 10:56 PM. Reason : .]
2/2/2010 10:54:58 PM
yeah, no way up wins best picture. thats just dumb. its a lock for animated, though
2/3/2010 1:05:38 AM
NO SAM ROCKWELL?NO CREDIBILITY.NO MELANIE LAURENT?NO CREDIBILITY.
2/3/2010 6:07:58 AM
Sherlock Holmes was awful. Can we just give every award to the hang over and the cast of.
2/3/2010 6:10:54 AM
i'm surprised nine isn't up for best picture. i haven't seen it, but it seems like one of those DDL movies that people would fawn over
2/3/2010 8:57:28 AM
To anyone doubting UP winning, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/78th_Academy_Awards
2/3/2010 9:00:05 AM
^^Nine's actually gotten pretty bad reviews. I'm still gonna see it though. I like musicals for the most partWhile I'm glad to see Up nominated for best picture, it doesn't make up for Wall-E not being on there last year...which is what I feel they're going for. To me it's like LOTR RotK winning best picture, "Oh! It's the last one! Better give it an award" *shrug* And now having seen Fantastic Mr Fox, that to me is best animated film and not Up; although I do love Up.I have Hurt Locker right now from Netflix so I'm gonna reserve til I watch that. I never got to see Precious :/The only two that I'm all "oooooh please win or I may riot" over is Best Art Direction for Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus and Best Supporting Actor to Christoph Waltz
2/3/2010 9:26:31 AM
Hurt locker was very disappointing IMO, shouldn't be in the discussion. Not that these awards mean jack shit anyways
2/3/2010 9:29:49 AM
why the heck is hurt locker and UP nominated
2/3/2010 11:10:21 PM

You would think Woody Harrelson could have gotten a hotter bitch, also Sandy Bullock is wearing way too much makeup
3/7/2010 8:40:18 PM
Definitely deserved to win this, Academy is 1 for 1 so far
3/7/2010 8:49:01 PM
no surprise at all
3/7/2010 8:50:48 PM
Up wins animated feature, 2 for 2
3/7/2010 8:59:08 PM
^ Absolutely agree; these two were slam dunks
3/7/2010 9:00:13 PM
fantastic mr. fox was far superior to up as a complete film
3/7/2010 9:12:09 PM
I was trying to figure out why everything was reruns today, then I remembered that this was on.

3/7/2010 11:42:54 PM
Avatar won the 3 awards it deserved and not a one more.
3/7/2010 11:59:41 PM
3/8/2010 12:23:51 AM
Roommates and I were cheering for the last two awards. Hurt Locker was a great movie, no two ways about it.I could have gone for Up In The Air as well, but very little otherwise.
3/8/2010 2:00:58 AM
3/8/2010 8:39:55 AM
I don't see what the big deal about Hurt Locker was. It was decent, but nothing exceptional IMO. It and Avatar didn't really belong in the discussion as far as best picture.
3/8/2010 9:01:55 AM
I enjoyed The Hurt Locker so I can't complain with the win, but I definitely have to admit that back when I watched it I didn't have any inkling it would be a contender to win best picture for the year
3/8/2010 9:10:32 AM
I enjoyed Hurt Locker. Def deserved best screenplay. Best Director? I'm on-board with that. ..but Best Picture? Sorry, but thats got to be some kind of appeasement for feminism, screenwriting purists, and small-filmmaking. The Hurt Locker is a forgettable film that wouldn't have had any appreciable impact on the industry, beyond its notation for first female Best Picture/Director. Pretty sure it would have faded completely from public memory within years.
3/8/2010 9:56:59 AM
3/8/2010 9:58:57 AM
^^ so it has the best storyand the best directionbut calling it best picture is a farce? ]
3/8/2010 10:00:23 AM
I don't consider writing and direction to be so far above other qualities like acting, art depth, effects and cinematography that a picture should win on the merits of those two alone.
3/8/2010 11:06:57 AM
what the hell is "art depth?"
3/8/2010 11:28:38 AM
