I don't know what albums you're listening to, but most of the stuff I come across from a good artist is just the opposite, with the good/bad track ratio being about 5:1.

Anyway, I don't think he's bad, and he's definitely making the most of the technology that's available. With that said, the fact that he uses a loop pedal to do this live instead of using a multitracker to do it in his bedroom is not revolutionary or impressive. On top of that, there are plenty of other artists making arguably more interesting music using the same technology.

C'mon, tell me how those same gripes don't apply to 90% of the indie pop/rock bands you're all up on in the Music of 20xx threads. They're just as derivative.

I'm not meaning that as an insult to your tastes or "the scene;" my point is that there is plenty of room in the music industry for people who aren't innovating. They're just doing something well, and if it sounds dope, it doesn't always matter how original it is. There is very very little innovation in music right now, but this guy is doing his thing, throwing it on youtube and seeing what resonates with people. Lots of bedroom musicians are doing the exact same thing, but 99% of them are doing it badly and certainly would never have the guts to do it out on the street.

I agree. I'm not hating on the guy's talent, but the title of this thread makes him seem like a genius, which he isn't. My tone in my original reply is more aimed at God than it is Dub FX, so my bad on that one.

This I don't agree with as much. A band like Dirty Projectors is doing a lot of innovative stuff. Granted, some of it sucks, but nothing else sounds like some of their newer stuff.
