I know it's a pretty common policy to see "people" (i.e., blacks) turned away from bars with a policy that they don't allow baggy pants, but does FUBAR have a history of using this for other means of profiling? I was there tonight with one of my best friends (black) who was quite sharp dressed but his pants were just a bit larger--weren't hanging, high up on his waist, weren't really baggy at all, and they were nice pants... and he got turned away. Another guy in our group had pants that were just as baggy and they didn't have a problem with him.

In this instance it seemed to be really apparent racial profiling--and I've never had that problem with anyone at FUBAR before.

well if you want my experiences i'll say that there may be a disproportionate level of black guys turned away vs white guys. but most white guys come with a chick or two per guy.

I don't particularly think the place is worth arguing the issue over, so we just left. It was pretty bullshit though, if this guy had been more "gangsta" then maybe it wouldn't have been so annoying, but they basically just pulled the excuse out of their ass in this case.

Black guy's reaction was pretty priceless though.

yeah, i noticed this, too and ive only been there once and that was a couple months ago. i was already in the bar, and went outside to use the phone or something, i forget. anyway, i overheard the bouncers telling these random black guys in line that they couldnt come in because they werent dressed right....i ended up making a scene about it because they were dressed better than most of the white guys that were already in the bar, and their jeans were not "baggy" and bla bla bla. they finally let the guys in, but i think it was just because the bouncers wanted me to stop drawing attention to the issue because they probably knew it was fucked up on their part.

They can up and say "get the fuck out" for no other reason than they don't like the way your ass is hanging out of your pants, or your skin is too dark, or you don't meet the teeth quota, or you look like a hippy, etc. (and let's be honest, who wants hippies in their place of business?)

I'd like to say fuck Noir Bar & Lounge for their bougie-ass dress code. They turned me away because I was wearing a T-shirt (an Iron Fist T-shirt, no less), yet they let this other cat behind me with a T-shirt in. My friend made a scene, my wife made a scene, the cops walked up, but I just went to spend my money somewhere else.

I forget what the name of the place was at the time (PI bar maybe?) but my buddy Dre (hyeroller519) got turned away for baggy pants and he still had on what he wore to work (business clothes)
