We're adding another set of offices to our building here at work. One office will have two network drops, the other will have two network drops, and the last room will have around four network drops.Giving me 8 network wires im going to have to run.Our current network just runs into a router and the server handles the DCHP.I'm guessing i'll just need to add a 10 port switch, run 8 lines into it and run 1 line back to our router in the other building. I don't think i need a router for this since im not handling any internet through it. I'm guessing this is what I need to do, networking has always been my weak spot.

from what you describe, it sounds like everything is on the same network or subnet, in which case all you need is a switch.

yeah, if it's all on the same subnet a switch is all you need.. layer 2 get something with a gigabit port for the link between buildings
