i actually have the set that he rated best (the UE Triple.Fi 10), but they were on sale for $99 around the beginning of decemberthey sound good but no way would i pay $400 for them

Driver size isn't everything. At the end of the day you're really just moving air, which you don't have to do extensively if the speaker is right above your ear drum. I have a pair of Shure in ear headphones that provide much better bass response and clarity then comparably priced over-the-ear phones. It's when I got to monitor-quality cans driven by an amplifier that lows, mids and highs became much more distinct.[Edited on January 8, 2010 at 3:01 PM. Reason : base, wtf>?]
