I drive an '05 Lacrosse right now so I'm already partial to them but I really like this. It looks very similar to a lexus though, which is never a bad thing just doesn't scream originality.

I'm sure people are eagerly awaiting their chance to own a car with the same name as the car that their Grandma drove because she couldn't afford a Cadillac.

"Mid-life crisis with sensibility", or maybe just "baby boomer who is retiring and cannot afford a cadillac due to the economy".

^interesting, but its weight distribution is probably so focked it doesn't matter.

So what ya think, 4,000lbs?

How excited can you be, when the General already had a kickass car that they just euthanized?

~4000lbs sounds right with 64/36 weight distribution. Personally I don't even know why Buick exists.

^255 hp seems very very underpowered for what will surely prove to be a boat. it's sort of like the prowler, it could've been a pretty cool car if they hadn't completely half assed it.

For some reason they LOVE them in China. Maybe it has had something to do with Tiger Woods

If I were GM, I'd put the vette motor in every car.

You guys act like they won't come out with a pointless souped-up version 2 years in. Of course, when it does, you'll all be like "What a shit-can" because it won't corner like an Elise.

That's because it is a rebadged Vauxhall Insignia, previous generation called the Vectra (in the UK; Opel Insignia in mainland Europe). GM in China has been making it under the Buick Regal name in China for just over a year now, and the Chinese love it!

So, it is not an American design at all, and the name Buick (and esp. Regal) looks stupid on that hotness. Pontiac, Cadillac, or even Chevrolet would be much much better. Thank God they didn't call it Oldsmobile!

The high performance version of the European ones are called Vauxhall Insignia VXR and Opel Insignia OPC (325 hp 2.8 litre TT V6, 6-sp manual), and are bloody hot, including what is probably the hottest wagon out there.

Judge for yourself.

^^I'm 99% sure you were watching a re-run because they did a piece on that last season or two seasons ago. They were saying it was comparable to the new M5 in terms of performance at half the cost.

Too bad its a fucking Buick.

When is GM going to realize that no matter what they do, Buick is viewed as a car for old people.

They have one of the worst car brand images there is.

Hell, even Tiger Woods couldnt make them popular.

Either come out with another brand and just rebadge them, or stop making them and just keep marketing them to old people.

Younger generations don't want to own a "Buick"

I understand your point, but to quote the first line of the Vauxhall wiki entry:
Vauxhall Motors Limited is a British car manufacturer, owned by General Motors.

therefore, gg GM.

I'm 100% sure it wasn't since it just aired, in the UK, on 1/3/10. The car you're thinking of was not the insignia, it was the Vauxhal VXR8, which they did compare to the M5 a couple of seasons ago.
