And you had an offer form a major school, and a smaller school, would you want to go to a smaller school and get more playing time?Say like basketball. Would you rather go all 4 yours to a place like App St and start all 4 years and get tons of playing time, or go to a UNC/Duke/NCSU and get limited if any playing time, and maybe start some your Sr year.Same for football.I think I would choose the bigger school. I think the advantages of being at a bigger university outweigh the smaller school even if you get more playing time.

depends on if the smaller school was division 1, unless your definition of smaller means lower division[Edited on January 1, 2010 at 10:45 PM. Reason : ]

Am I trying to be a professional in whatever sport?

Well coming out of HS isn't that every kids goal? lolThe reason I got to thinking about this is one of my friends growing up was a great football player in HS, pretty much a badass. He had offers this year to Virginia, Georgia, Kentucky, and South Carolina. He instead chose to go to UT-Chattanooga. I talked to a mutual friend and he said that he had talked to him and he said it was because he would get more playing time.I understand wanting to play more, but I would much rather be a part of something bigger, than to be big at something smaller.[Edited on January 1, 2010 at 10:58 PM. no, not reallyas a senior in HS, i wanted to play college baseball but knew that at no point, would i ever be considered a pro prospect
1/1/2010 10:57:30 PM
If I wasn't a pro prospect (I'd like to think I could be realistic about it) I'd go to a place where I could major in what I wanted. But yeah I'd also want playing time. I'd rather go to App and play 4 years than ride the bench my whole career at State or UNC.[Edited on January 1, 2010 at 11:13 PM. Reason : As long as App had my major of course]

I don't miss my years at State, but had I known back then what I know now, I think I would have gone to a smaller school to play soccer. Coming out of high school, I assumed I wouldn't be good enough to play professionally so I didn't even think about it even though I had inquiries (and the resume) from RPI. The end result would have been to finally play with a full team of serious athletes with bonafide coaching behind it that could have led to some career or a degree from an institution slightly higher on the food chain than NCSU.

Soccer may be boring as hell, but it is most certainly a real sport.

I would choose the school that had the best trim.I still don't get how Ole Miss doesn't have the #1 recruiting class year in and year out in all revenue sports.

Going to a larger school could also mean more networking opportunities after sports... whereas said player would have to just be like "yea i played college ball.......at SWJSU" lol

What is with the hate, we're talking about hypothetical situations that 99.9% of the people here didn't have a chance at anyway. I mean, might as well make a thread about which pro city you'd want to play in...you know, if you could.
1/2/2010 6:47:22 PM
Other than the soccer hate, what the hell are you talking about?Nobody is hating on either situation.
