P. Riv is taking a beating. I didn't want to stick this in the All Things Rivers Thread. http://tinyurl.com/ybs8xek[Edited on December 23, 2009 at 5:31 PM. Reason : POLL]
12/23/2009 5:31:35 PM
he's in 4th in that list of QBs, im surprised the general voting public put him that high
12/23/2009 5:34:21 PM
Tebow is the best fullback on this list.
12/23/2009 5:37:20 PM
Leinart was a product of his environment. If he suited up for State instead of SC, he wouldn't be anywhere near this list.should be between Vince and Phil
12/23/2009 5:40:22 PM
I tried to write in TJ Yates but it doesn't appear to be possible.
12/23/2009 5:44:15 PM
there's a reason why Eli was the #1 pick and its not just because of his name. I'd tie him with Rivers because both set records without any real help.
12/23/2009 6:24:00 PM
the reason he was the #1 pick was so the chargers could get Rivers and more (ended up being Rivers, Merriman and Kaeding) in the inevitable trade
12/23/2009 7:02:11 PM
The reason he was the #1 pick was because he was good enough in college to be traded for Rivers and others.
12/23/2009 7:15:48 PM
Elol Manning:Career Pass Yards: 10,119Career TD Passes: 81Career YPA: couldn't find it, but he doesn't even own that record at Ole Miss so it can't be that goodRivers:Career Pass Yards: 13,484Career Pass TD: 95Career YPA: 9.55 (best in college football history)
12/23/2009 7:20:13 PM
Jay Davis
12/23/2009 7:21:02 PM
BUT ELI MANNING WAS IN THE SEC AND THE SEC IS GOD, DON'T YOU KNOW THIS?

Olin Hannum[Edited on December 23, 2009 at 8:58 PM. Reason : recently won the Steer Wrestling championship at the world-renowned Pendleton Round-Up]
12/23/2009 8:49:55 PM
LOL at the Miami and NY Giants homers in here....Tebow has been dominant at the QB position I don't give a fuck how.
12/23/2009 9:04:23 PM
where are Jay Davis, Marcus Stone, and Daniel EvansI can understand Harrison Beck not being on the list as he's still competing, but the other 3?????
12/23/2009 9:13:50 PM
Dan LeFevour has to be mentioned --- On December 1, 2007 LeFevour became the second player in Division I FBS history to pass for over 3,000 yards and rush for over 1,000 yards in a single season (Vince Young was the first). - On September 12, 2009 at Michigan State, LeFevour passed Byron Leftwich to take over as the MAC all-time leader in total offense in a career. - He currently holds Mid American Conference records for career completions, attempts, passing yards, passing touchdowns, total touchdowns, and total offensive yards. - LeFevour is the only player in NCAA history with over 12,000 passing yards and 2,500 rushing yards and currently sits 3rd all time in total offensive yards. - He also holds the FBS record for total touchdowns with 148

Too bad he plays for CMU.
12/23/2009 11:51:59 PM
P. Riv is a good as any other QB I have ever seen in college
12/24/2009 1:13:36 AM
^^ what does that have to do with anything?
12/24/2009 1:18:38 AM
^ level of competition
12/24/2009 1:18:58 AM
so if he were in the position to play the likes of UVa, Murray State, Akron, Gardner-Webb, Duke, Maryland, William & Mary, Wofford, etc. then he'd be allowed to be in the conversation?
12/24/2009 1:27:00 AM
Other than Florida State were there any real threats in the ACC while Rivers was playing? You have to look at the conference and we all know there never was nor will there ever be any comparison between the competitive level of the SEC and the ACC.
12/24/2009 1:31:26 AM
i didn't realize this was the "best SEC QB this Decade" threadin case it's not, LeFevour's name must be part of the discussion. his numbers back it up
12/24/2009 1:39:54 AM
yes, please only include the worst teams we've played in the last couple years. nevermind that the best team he played is... who? i hope you're trolling, people in shitty conferences can do better because they play shittier teams on the reg.. if people had the same numbers in the SEC and ACC, i'd probably take the SEC guy, but no chance i would ever take a MAC QB over almost any other conference QB. It's like saying Armanti Edwards should be considered.
12/24/2009 3:44:49 AM
^^ With that logic you have to put Timmy Chang on the list. He had great numbers. Josh Johnson had a 177 passer rating for San Diego (04-07). Best all time. Should he be on the list because he has 'numbers'? Hell, Jason White won the Heisman and he isn't on the list.[Edited on December 24, 2009 at 6:23 AM. Reason : fgdf]
12/24/2009 6:19:10 AM
If it's just about results, Matt Leinart, no question. He's the only one with 2 championships as a starter (well one of them was only a half championship)If it's about performance, then it's Rivers, IMO.[Edited on December 24, 2009 at 10:08 AM. Reason : But I can't say I know the stats for all of these QBs]
12/24/2009 10:05:50 AM
^I think you have to look at both. Leadership and the way a QB rallies the team has to count for something.
12/24/2009 12:53:37 PM
I love Rivers and hes definitely top 5 QB in the NFL but the bottom line is that he never went better than 5-3 in the acc. Consequently, he was nothing but an above average college QB.
12/24/2009 1:37:55 PM
Rivers doesn't have the best stats out of any of these guys, and he never won anything that mattered. There is no way he deserves to win this over most guys on the list.I love the guy, but in college he was really good, just not as good as some of us want to think..[Edited on December 24, 2009 at 1:52 PM. Reason : .]
12/24/2009 1:51:12 PM
Rivers wasnt the reason they never did better than 5-3. I think you judge this by actually watching the QB, not just stats, not just team victories, but actually watching what he did on the field... never did see anyone better than him in college.
12/24/2009 1:54:26 PM
Didn't tory holt throw a few passes or am I thinking of TA
12/24/2009 2:16:55 PM
12/24/2009 2:59:03 PM
leinhart had defenses keying on bush.vince young easily. he was like rivers and tebow in one.
12/24/2009 3:10:05 PM
it's the same reason Rivers didn't win the Heisman, or wasn't even invited to NYC for that matter. If we would have been undefeated or even close to a championship team, Rivers would have won it hands down. All these awards are jokes, just like the Hypesman has become.
12/24/2009 3:10:53 PM
fitting that a sport with bowl game would have a shitty awards system. just a shitty sport all together.
12/24/2009 3:11:56 PM
12/24/2009 3:37:13 PM
tdub's poll skewing abilities apparently aren't as good as they once were
12/24/2009 3:40:38 PM
obviously tdub is not in agreeance
12/24/2009 3:47:14 PM
12/24/2009 4:02:20 PM
why are people still equating team success with how successful a qb is/was? last i checked, there are still 21 other starters on the team[quote]i didn't realize this was the "best SEC QB this Decade" threadin case it's not, LeFevour's name must be part of the discussion. his numbers back it up[quote]Since you don't seem to think level of competition is important, let's add D-II QBs to the list as well. In fact we can just start the list of best college QB with Grand Valley State's Cullen Finnerty who finished his career with a 51-4 record and combine both ideas that wins = qb success & that level of competition doesn't mean anything
12/24/2009 7:18:49 PM
^ its the Marino/Peyton axiom... people needed to find a chink in their stellar careers so they bring that stupid shit up...

Did some dumb fuck really just say Dan Lefever or whatever his horrible name is? Hahahaha fail.
12/25/2009 11:25:33 AM
this thread got stupid pretty quickly
12/25/2009 12:07:28 PM
I voted for Rivers 100 times.Merry Christmas.
12/25/2009 3:56:11 PM
12/25/2009 4:56:29 PM
I'm assuming that this thread is regarding the best college QB this decade...after Craig Krenzel.I'm just saying. He's really, really good. Indomitable, really.
