12/22/2009 9:28:48 AM
i have a cornbread mix that i need to try.... thanks for the reminder
12/22/2009 9:29:35 AM
sour cream? is that a typical ingredient or just 'yours'
12/22/2009 9:32:51 AM
12/22/2009 9:36:05 AM
I disagree. My grandma's cornbread never actually had pieces of corn in it outside of the cornmeal. Therefore your cornbread is no good.
12/22/2009 9:37:30 AM
Cornbread with corn >>> cornbread with no corn. That does sound pretty tasty.

I straight up do Jiffy mix + 1 can of creamed corndelicious
12/22/2009 8:07:29 PM
Simple can be good, but mix ins like cheese, jalapenos and corn can be very tasty too. I wonder if I could get a pan that would let me make a corn bread bowl to put chili in.
12/22/2009 8:09:30 PM
What's with all the boxed shit?Just use corn meal!

Here it is (from Better Homes and Gardens cookbook):# 1 cup all-purpose flour# 3/4 cup cornmeal# 2 to 3 tablespoons sugar# 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder# 3/4 teaspoon salt# 1 tablespoon butter# 2 eggs, beaten# 1 cup milk# 1/4 cup cooking oil or melted butter I added a can of white and yellow corn, cooked 5 slices of bacon on a sheet pan at 425 degrees, chopped it up and stirred it in the batter and used the remaining fat instead of the oil. Also added a teaspoon of crushed red pepper which I ground up with a mortar and pestil, and sauteed a little onion in butter and added that as well.Yeah motherfuckers I own you.
1/5/2010 4:32:35 PM
I'll eat your cornbread.Yeah, I typed that with the inflection you're hoping I did.
1/5/2010 4:34:00 PM
^^ i couldn't eat that
1/5/2010 4:38:27 PM
^^ ^ that's hilarious...are you metro?Oh and I forgot to mention the cup of shredded sharp cheddar.
1/5/2010 5:31:44 PM
no, but I am obsessed about my weight and I avoid butter, real eggs, milk above 1%, melted butter, etc
1/5/2010 5:34:01 PM
1/5/2010 5:34:44 PM
I wanted to roast corn on the cob and cut the kernels off and use that, but there was no fresh corn to be had.
1/5/2010 5:35:50 PM
OP is just sour cream and corn added to the instructions on the boxjust sayin'[Edited on January 5, 2010 at 5:38 PM. Reason : yes, i have memorized the jiffy instructions]
1/5/2010 5:38:24 PM
a piece (or two) per day as a side dish to a full meal?it's just not worth it, in my opinion
1/5/2010 5:39:00 PM
The calorie difference between your recipe and mine, for one slice, might be 200 calories. You wouldn't even notice.Especially considering you obviously exercise.
1/5/2010 5:40:34 PM
a difference of 200 calories? that's substantial, almost 10% of the daily intake!
1/5/2010 5:45:40 PM
If you were eating a piece a day for the rest of your life it could be considered substantial. Not to mention we're talking about cornbread, which is already unhealthy, no matter how many fat-free ingredients you put in it.[Edited on January 5, 2010 at 6:00 PM. Reason : .]
1/5/2010 5:59:21 PM
1/5/2010 6:06:27 PM
it starts off with an extra 200 calories here and therethen up to the extra 500then back to eating fast food and Chinese take outthen next thing I know, I'm back up to 235
1/5/2010 6:07:19 PM
Only if you lack self-control.And that's another subject entirely.
1/5/2010 6:07:54 PM
I love cornbread so much I want to take it behind a middle school and get it pregnant.
1/5/2010 8:52:35 PM
My cornbread will get YOU pregnant.
1/5/2010 8:57:02 PM
