just out of curiosity; who's getting a Christmas bonus and a raise for next year?
12/8/2009 3:32:33 PM
Whats a bonus?
12/8/2009 3:34:48 PM
$1000 bonus if production hits its monthly goal (rumors put that at about a 50/50 shot)Raises come in March. No reason not to expect the typical 3% average across salaried employees.

12/8/2009 3:49:26 PM
You should feel good to have a job this year.Anyone bitching about bonuses this year needs to have their ass hit the unemployment line.
12/8/2009 3:51:03 PM
^^ good god, 10%? geez, didn't know companies still paid out that high
12/8/2009 3:57:21 PM
I just made a 200% return on my ESPP so my company gave me a bonus by driving our stock price to a 52 week high today.

12/8/2009 4:24:00 PM
Whats a bonus?(Hooray working for state gov't)
12/8/2009 4:26:47 PM
No bonus or raises.I do get a bonus (0-25% of my salary) each month that is based on the performance of the plant I work so I do not care about not getting a Christmas bonus. Usually we get around 17%.
12/8/2009 4:29:31 PM
$6kand 5%, hopefully[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 4:33 PM. Reason : asdf]

Got my bonus at year end (September). It was big, I am happy.
12/8/2009 4:34:41 PM
Just found out today!4 percent raise6 percent bonusI was totally expecting no raise and maybe a .5 or 1 percent bonus, IF THAT, based on how folks have been talking the past couple months. I would have been thrilled with that. Apparently this was a better year than we thought/they led on. I'm feeling pretty good today!
12/8/2009 4:49:56 PM
doubt i'll get a raisemay get a bonusjust happy to have a job
12/8/2009 4:56:00 PM
yay most Investment Banks will be giving decent bonuses this year anything is better than last year
12/8/2009 4:57:49 PM
19% and 2k bonus I still make less than 50k though...
12/8/2009 5:02:47 PM
i got a 24% raise back whenever we did reviews. august or something. it wasn't for nothing. i took on most of the IT duties and am starting to learn the paperwork side of construction admin. wayyyy more work than before. i am not complaining though.we don't get bonuses this year. things are too tight. everybody got a raise a few months ago but no xmas bonuses. as far as i know though, we're still doing the office xmas thing where the business buys gifts for everyone. they're typically in the $300 range but if we're doing that still i'm sure it'll be less. we usually got that on top of bonuses.
12/8/2009 5:14:12 PM
some girl that I was hanging out with this weekend who works at Goldman Sachs in NYC said she's getting over $500,000 bucks for her bonus this year. She is 26.That makes me sick. I almost slapped her right then and there.
12/8/2009 5:16:19 PM
^ i call bs
12/8/2009 5:19:49 PM
nope. I know this girl and she is a good friend of a friend of mine. She certainly works for the company and they have set aside $16.7 BILLION for bonuses this year.
12/8/2009 5:25:04 PM
damn that fucked up. that makes me feel very small and
12/8/2009 5:26:05 PM
It's a fucking embarrassment to our country if you ask me.
12/8/2009 5:27:04 PM
salary freeze
12/8/2009 5:28:51 PM
well, I would assume the girl at GS is very book smart and went to a good school. Its not like its easy to get a job there. From what I understand, it is the best of the best, therefore, its like getting a good job as a lawyer at a prestigious firm. Lots of perks with that.It may be dissapointing that you dont make that, but you should be happy that this is attainable. But you can do really well making a ton less.Thats what I figured out a few years ago... Really can be happy without having to be rich.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 5:46 PM. Reason : .]
12/8/2009 5:46:15 PM
1) yes2) nostrange i know... i'm VERY VERY fortunate to even have a job though. in my profession, 45% are unemployed.
12/8/2009 5:47:03 PM
12/8/2009 5:57:38 PM
Usually get a bonus 10-15% of my salary and the raise depends on performance (5-10% usually). Bonus will come next week and the raise will be in April.
12/8/2009 6:01:16 PM
I wish
12/8/2009 6:17:37 PM
it was either everyone gets raises and some people get let go, or no raises and everyone keeps there jobs...i've never had a bonus before anyway, so it doesn't really phase me, although it would be nice
12/8/2009 6:31:20 PM
12/8/2009 6:58:24 PM
we never get a holiday bonus and we got no raises last year and no bonus. happy to have a job and no pay cut thankyou
12/8/2009 7:19:43 PM
^^ yeah Im learning that now after trying unsuccessfully to "break in" to investment banking for the last couple of years. I thought my engineering and economics degrees would give me an advantage but unfortunately I dont have the Ivy league education nor the family background.I wish I could get a raise instead of a bonus..stupid wage freeze [Edited on December 8, 2009 at 7:25 PM. 12/8/2009 7:23:35 PM
None. And while I guess I lucked out on the coolest fat day ever at my last job, I missed out on the Christmas party at my new one. Drats!
12/8/2009 7:23:50 PM
<--- Personal Traineronly bonus I'll get is when my clients bring me giftsas far as a raise goes...not so much, unless I increase my client list

12/8/2009 7:33:45 PM
Pisses me off I was stupid enough to go into EngineeringAt what point in our lives were we told that Engineers made the most money? Who knew I should have worked at a BANK, and I would have been making a f*ck ton of money
12/8/2009 7:55:03 PM
last year's bonus was a $25 walmart gift card. this year's bonus is a 5% pay cut. actually, the pay cut happened back in april or may. but business is slightly up, we are slowly starting to hire back a couple of people that were laid off, and there's random temps walking around. whoopty fucking do.
12/8/2009 9:32:51 PM
^^ Wall St loves engineers! They are commonly hired in modeling, analysis, and even trading. See my post above though on how hard it is to "break in" to the club. Still, just because you have an engineering degree doesnt mean you have to be an engineer.[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 9:34 PM. Reason : +^]
12/8/2009 9:34:05 PM
-5.25% Reductions are company wide and raises have been frozen for a year now. Oh well, could be worse, I could have been one of the ones laid off on Thursday.
12/8/2009 9:41:48 PM
For those of you folks who are getting year end bonuses:1) Do you work for a publicly traded company?2) Does that company's fiscal year end near / around December or Janurary?Reason I ask, doesn't make financial sense to give bonuses at that time of year. You get your accounting in order so your YE earnings look good, not spend more without an immediate return in revenue/profit around that time. Both my company and my wife's do bonuses/raises/promotions spread throughout the first half of the following year.
12/8/2009 10:14:48 PM
my bonus came out to be about 77 bucks after tax this year. no word yet on raise.
12/8/2009 10:25:22 PM
12/8/2009 10:34:29 PM
no bonus this yearraises happen in march
12/8/2009 10:41:03 PM
Already got my raise, but I'm at a non-profit so no bonuses.
