Thoughts? It's def. about making some money. BB's last game. He wanted it to be in FLA. I think it's a load of crap. I thought it was supposed to be a great bowl game to go to. They'd normally take the 2 team from ACC, but they took a really bad FSU team this year.WVU will wax that ass.

I love the pissing and moaning about who gets what second tier bowl. The ACC sucked hard this year, we barely deserve bowl games.
12/6/2009 9:54:56 PM
Clemson got dropped all the way to Nashville. Yikes.
12/6/2009 9:57:38 PM
fuck the bowl system. competition and the goal of finding the best team died long ago; the BCS is a bitter struggle about money and power.
12/6/2009 10:00:07 PM
YOU'RE RIGHT TAKING A 6-6 FSU OVER A 9-3 MIAMI IS TOTALLY LEGIT AND NOT WORTH COMPLAINING ABOUT.
12/6/2009 10:01:24 PM
college football is dead until they make an 8 or 16 team playoff.
12/6/2009 10:06:48 PM
Yeah so then we can have a bunch of teams pissed about not making an 8 or 16 team playoff.
12/6/2009 10:14:18 PM
I'm sure it doesn't hurt that it's only a 2.5hr drive from Tallahassee to Jacksonville.
12/6/2009 10:14:36 PM
^^^ college football will get on just fine without youthere will never be a playoff. sorry, that's just the way it is.

Can't believe State fans are bitching about the Gator Bowl taking FSU.Remember when the Gator Bowl was the 2nd pick and took a 4th place NC State team over two teams that had better records then us, solely for the fact that our fans travel. The bowl games are all about selling tix and hotel rooms.
12/6/2009 10:30:08 PM
FSU didn't get this because they travel well. They got it because an old man said so.A .500, 6th place team getting an invite to a bowl with a 3rd place conference tie-in is absolutely unheard-of and preposterous. [Edited on December 6, 2009 at 10:42 PM. Reason : .]
12/6/2009 10:40:04 PM
No, they got it because they were the most profitable choice for the Gator Bowl.
12/6/2009 10:42:01 PM
12/6/2009 10:44:12 PM
Along with the fact that the Gator Bowl is done with the ACC after this year, so they can do whatever batshit crazy stuff they want.[Edited on December 6, 2009 at 10:45 PM. Reason : .]

^it does.^^Miami wins, Clemson wins, VT wins, GT probably wins. I dunno about BC.FSU and UNC probably lose.Actually i dunno. Ponder is good. I guess they might win one for the ole ball coach.[Edited on December 7, 2009 at 2:09 AM. Reason : .]

^ Ponder had season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder several weeks ago. After selecting a 7-5 Clemson team last year and 6-6 FSU this year, I'm glad to see the Gator go. Bring on the Sun bowl.

hence why Texas gets a "national title game" over Cincinatti (sp?) that had more top 25 wins.
12/7/2009 11:20:41 AM
Where and when are these playoff games played?and I believe texas and cincy each had two wins over teams that are now ranked.if the Big East wants a chance at a 'ship, they need to stop being a joke of a conference and get four more teams.[Edited on December 7, 2009 at 11:32 AM. Reason : .]

First round losers alongwith schools that failed to make the 32-team field would play in thelower tier bowls, with the higher-seeded first round losers gettingthe better of those bowl games. Second round losers would play in oneof the top four non-BCS Bowl games: The two highest seeded secondround losers would play in the Cotton Bowl, the next two highest wouldplay in the Capital One Bowl, the two highest after that would play inthe Chick-Fil-A (Peach) Bowl and the two lowest seeded second roundlosers would play in the Holiday Bowl. Each of those four bowl games, along with what would be the top Bowl games for first round losers(Gator, Outback, Liberty and Independence Bowls) would be in arotation that would every few years play host to one of the twonational semifinal games in addition to their regular bowl game.

That's just it... no one KNOWS if Texas is inferior to TCU or Cincy because the system is so fucking stupid. You can't say that in definitive terms just like whoever said Cincy was clearly better than Texas.Texas barely scraped by A&M and Nebraska... Are they so much better than Pittsburgh? Alabama is the only 100% ironclad lock to be a great team of the undefeateds IMO...^ get out of here with Texas having a great defense. A&M threw up 40 points on them a week ago... Nebraska just has an inept offense.[Edited on December 7, 2009 at 2:28 PM. Reason : x]

12/7/2009 2:43:13 PM
I don't care about any of the rest of that shit and I don't have a good alternative right now, but any system that allows a team to go undefeated all year long, including the postseason, and not be considered a champion is fucked up.Cincy could win every game, including the postseason game, and still not even have a claim to the championship...and that shit is wrong. Imagine that shit in basketball or baseball....
12/7/2009 2:46:10 PM
A&M lost to 3-9 Colorado. Nebraska lost to Iowa State. Again, the argument isn't as black and white as you're making it. All I'm saying is I don't think Texas' body of work is definitively better than TCU and/or Cincy... the computers agree even though some people think the computers are garbage.I personally think the computers should be a component... especially considering 1/3 of the BCS is a bunch of coaches like Butch Davis and Greg Schiano who coach one game a week and watch Sportscenter for highlights.[Edited on December 7, 2009 at 2:47 PM. ^what's not debatable is conference strength. And the Big 12 didn't have it this year. So tell me another
12/7/2009 3:17:33 PM
Why you gotta hate on UConn, damn it? 5 losses by a combined 15 points and a 7-5 record despite their #1 corner being murdered midway through the season. Decent team at least and they beat Baylor BEFORE they lost Griffin pretty easily on the road. But I agree with you about TCU actually unlike most people on here.As far as the conferences, 5 of the 6 of the BCS computers had the Big East 3rd ranked and the other one had them 4th ranked. Big XII was 4th, 5th or 6th in the six rankings. Now, I fully admit I HATE relying as heavily on the computers as I am in this argument, but in my opinion the Big XII didn't even really pass the eye test this year as being definitively better than the Big East. Last year it was phenomenal, but there was a major regression in OU, Kansas, Mizzou, Baylor after their QB got hurt, Texas Tech and Okla State after they lost Dez Bryant. Only Texas performed as well as people thought they would. It simply wasn't a very good conference this year. And this argument about the respective teams conferences and schedules is EXACTLY why the fucking BCS sucks! But it is what it is.** and I didn't call the Huskers shitty but it's just as stupid to call Pitt shitty for losing to us considering they had 9 wins as well... Nebraska lost a stinker to Iowa State and Pitt lost a stinker to NCSU. Same difference. Pitt's only other two losses were to two Top 16 teams.[Edited on December 7, 2009 at 3:20 PM. Reason : x]

No they wouldn't earn their way to the finals. They'd get waxed by the first SEC team they played. They play in a bad conference and don't even have a conference title game.
