I'd probably give Shaun Alexander the nod for that 2nd string RB over Priest Holmes.
11/29/2009 6:48:10 PM
can i noscript this yet?
11/29/2009 6:54:22 PM
How does Dungy get the nod over Belichick as best coach? 3 SB wins >>>>>> 1 SB win
11/29/2009 7:54:12 PM
I don't like the Pats very much but you'd be retarded to say that Bill Belicheck isn't the best coach of our life time. Also, Priest Holmes had 3 good years. That's it. Shaun Alexander >>>>>>>>>>> Priest Holmes
11/29/2009 7:59:12 PM
WR- Steve Smith
11/29/2009 8:00:42 PM
I guess LT has been the most consistent of the decade but I'd like to put an RB up there that accomplished something besides statistics
11/29/2009 8:21:15 PM
Zack Thomas over Brian Urlacher???? Thomas is greatly overrated IMO.
11/29/2009 8:27:16 PM
Yeah you overlooked Brian Urlacher, and I'd put in Warren Sapp at DT
11/29/2009 8:34:02 PM
^^^as a RB he cant do much else but get the ball and run...he cant really help how much he has and hasnt won[Edited on November 29, 2009 at 8:36 PM. Reason : although id make a guess that he passed for more TDs than any other rb in the 2000's]
11/29/2009 8:35:44 PM
no love for Booger McFarland?
11/29/2009 8:41:45 PM
I would amend your list with:Shawn Alexander (and I'd even think about Westbrook and Faulk) over Priest HomesMike Alstott over Tony RichardsonRandy Moss starts over TOSomeone else, maybe Rice or Kearse over Jason Taylor. Not sure how you can put Ware over Merriman. Not that Merriman necessarily deserves it, but he was more dominant.Jamal Williams at Nose Tackle.Ty Law is very overrated.
11/29/2009 8:41:57 PM
jamarcus russell *snicker*
11/29/2009 8:46:04 PM
The only true crimes in this list are no Marshal Faulk and no Urlacher
11/29/2009 8:53:09 PM
marshall faulk peaked in '00, and was basically done by '03
11/29/2009 9:19:00 PM
I agree with Dungy over Belichick because Belichick is a fucking CHEAT.
11/29/2009 11:55:26 PM
I don't see how you're putting Asomugha ahead of Shawn Springs or Antoine Winfield
11/30/2009 12:01:25 AM
What are you guys basing Shaun Alexander over Priest Holmes on? Holmes was clearly the better RB... he had a few less seasons than Shaun due to some freak injuries but he was a beast. Alexander played behind a dominant line and hit the wall really hard late in his career.Zack Thomas probably doesn't belong... Kris Jenkins was dominant but only for a season or two before injuries ruined him
11/30/2009 12:06:55 AM
This thread is garbage. If you evaluating performance this season Rivers or Brees easily beats out Brady. If consideringhistorically than how the hell can you leave out Farve for Manning or Brady.Same thing for RB. This season LT is still a great athlete but no way one of the top 2 RB's in the league. His age hasdefinitly caught up to him. WR you are really going to put TO and Reggie Wayne over Steve Smith??? Steve Smith just hasthe inconvience of playing under a shitty QB. TO while busting with raw talent; provides a negative impact to team performancedue to extraneous variables. TO may have some extraordinary catches but he tends to drag down the morale of the team around him.For DE I think Peppers has stepped it up but the first few games of the season he definitly did not earn him a top 4 spot.Team- NE Pats???? lol what a joke.

I can't agree with any list that doesn't have Peyton Manning as the quarterback.
11/30/2009 1:03:02 PM
It really comes down to rings....
11/30/2009 3:18:54 PM
They will be seen as a wash unless Manning gets another ring. Though Manning is slightly better.
11/30/2009 3:59:10 PM
Fuck rings Manning does more with less and is probably the best QB of all time. Marino didn't win a ring at all but he was way better than Terry Bradshaw or Roethlisberger. If that's the case Ben is better than Peyton because he has two rings even though he didn't even play good in the first one. 7 straight seasons of 11+ wins that's fucking absurd.
11/30/2009 4:07:52 PM
that isn't the pointthis is the all decade teamBrady has played in 4 Superbowls and won 3 since 2001No one is saying Brady is better, he just gets the nod due to tangible accomplishments.
11/30/2009 4:29:48 PM
Which is why Belicheat deserves the coach award over Dungy. I would've loved to have seen Dungy lead the Colts to an 11-5 season if Peyton had torn his ACL and MCL in the opening game of the year.
11/30/2009 4:49:27 PM
The fact that the Colts are 11-0 this year without Dungy speaks volumes to how little the coach matters as long as Peyton is running the shipIMO, if you replace Belichick and Dungy with a league average coach, the Pats fall off a lot furtherThus making Belichick the more valuable coach
11/30/2009 4:51:52 PM
11/30/2009 5:04:15 PM
11/30/2009 5:09:08 PM
One could, but Dungy was not the GM, and I think more credit goes to Bill Polian for having the foundation in placeBut lets be honest...Matt Millen and Tom Cable could look like geniuses if Peyton Manning was running their teams
11/30/2009 5:13:24 PM
you rightI was just bringing it up for the sake of argument
11/30/2009 5:18:38 PM
TO doesn't deserve to be on any top list other than top team breakers. His mouth did more than his stats show. Randy Moss is the receiver of the decade without a doubt. Hell, I'd put Steve Smith over TO any day of the week.
11/30/2009 5:47:36 PM
I dont see why merriman is up there. Total, he had about 2 seasons worth of roided up good play. Hasn't been remarkable since.
11/30/2009 6:45:52 PM
^^ I told people that shit years ago on here and all I got was "Manning is only good because of his receivers!" eat it bitches
11/30/2009 6:57:55 PM
Harrison was a legit elite possession receiver. Manning made him into a household name.Wayne is a legit #1 WR only because of the work he's put in and because Manning makes it worth his while to practice and learn the game. To say it's the talent around him is misleading, no one works harder or demands more than Manning does from the QB position. The rest of the guys are all forgettable and would be total unknowns in most systems.Manning is a better QB than Brady. Brady wasn't even a top QB for the first couple of years of the decade. He got a lot better mid decade for sure but he's been behind stellar o-lines, had multiple weapons (like Manning), and had some stacked defenses while he was growing into an elite QB. He's a great QB, but he's not Manning and probably never will be...
11/30/2009 7:07:21 PM
I agree totally. When you are talking about just the QB position (not how good their defense happen to be, not coaching, not how many Super Bowl rings their TEAM won etc) I dont think anyone playing now can touch Manning

shouldnt we wait until this year and next year's nfl season finish before finalizing a team of the decade?
11/30/2009 10:44:12 PM
No. This way we can all make our selections and then call other people morons when their players bust at the end of the season.
11/30/2009 10:47:48 PM
^^^^i think you're just making things up. holmes was a much more effective receiver than alexander. in holmes' 3 good seasons he had 614, 672, and 690 yards receiving. in alexander's 5 good seasons he had 343, 460, 295, 170, and 78 (with 1880 rushing that year) yards through the air.i'm not arguing with taking alexander over holmes...just the reasoning about catching the ball out of the backfield.[Edited on December 1, 2009 at 6:54 AM. ^ Exactly, I can't beleive anyone would argue against Priest as a receiver? If Priest wasn't a dominant back then who the fuck was Jim Brown and Ernest Dickerson? That guy was WAY more explosive than Alexander.Alexander probably didn't have 1,000 yards after contact his entire career. He was a good back, definitely a legit pro bowler but my kids will never know his name. Priest Holmes in his prime was one of the best RB's the game has ever seen. He didn't have a ton of longevity but he was dynamic when he was healthy. Hell, I think he had a 5 TD game himself in Baltimore. ALexander was a get 5 yards and fall down guy. Priest was a take a screen pass and turn it into a 60 yard TD type of back. In fact, thats how his career got ended early.
12/2/2009 6:41:41 PM
If your career ends on that sort of play then you can't exactly call it your claim to fame, can you?I doubt your kids will know who Priest Holmes is, either.
12/2/2009 6:43:48 PM
who is Ernest Dickerson?
