does it have to be online? There are dvd classes. I can also name a few traditional classes that you don't have to attend and can pass by simply doing the reading and taking the exams. You could also do independent study. I've taken two courses as independent study. It requires a little discipline, but worked well for me.I can also name a few classes that require no work outside of class. Just show up, pay attention half of the time, and you'll get a B. Pay attention most of the time and you'll get an A.

Bus 225 fits the description of "i don't have to do much more than watch videos and take tests". at least it was in the earlier part of this decade.

PSY 200 has 3 tests, that's it.

^You have to attend all of the classes though tool. Damn 200 level attendance policies
12/1/2009 12:42:12 AM
^ not true. I took it with craig, I think I was able to miss all but something like 8 classes (don't remember if that included exams or not) and still get an A. Keep in mind that was with almost perfect scores on the exams and with the extra credit he offers. But, I calculated what I could get away with at the beginning of the semster and went for it. I had already taken three 300/400 level psych classes before psy200, so it was mostly review anyhow. But anyone who can read and take notes could pass the class as long as they studied. The attendance policy just requires the instructor to take attendance, and maybe for it to count for something. They can incorporate it however they feel as far as i know. That, or Craig completely fails to adhere to the policy. Here's his syllabus for this year:http://iopsychology.chass.ncsu.edu/craig/intro/PSY200-008.pdfYou can get a total of 223 pts in the course. >= 196 is an A +, 180-183 is an A-. You lose 1 pt for each unexcused absense. So, assuming perfect scores, you can miss 27 days and still get an A+. You can miss 43 class meetings and get an A-.The class only meets like 33 times, and that's counting exams and the final.[Edited on December 1, 2009 at 2:31 AM. Reason : .]

i just know i had to drop it my freshman year due to absences, maybe it has changed since that was 5 years ago
12/1/2009 7:51:04 AM
maybe. I took it spr 2006. But as far as I know, nothing has changed about the 200 level attendance policy since I began here in 2001. What a lot of students, and maybe even instructors, don't realize though is that they're only required to keep a record of attendance. Whether or not you're penalized for unexcused absences is entirely up to the instructor.

ISE 417. Though I doubt you'd meet the prereqs. It pretty much just makes you an MS Access guru.

Sorry, but I just finished taking PSY 200 through DE with Martin. When I see online, I always think of DE classes and forget there are a few online courses offered 'on campus'. Through the 601 course though, there are absolutely NO CLASSES required and there were 3 exams through Vista that followed lectures that were worth 40 points a piece (40 questions) and you could actually take all of the exams in the same week and be finished with them early on in the semester. The exams are multiple choice and can be taken with a proctor or at the McKimmon Center. I've taken just about every Distance Ed class that I could under my degree because I live so far from campus, and I've never had any issues with having to come to campus for 200 level courses through DE. Yes, you'll have to pay more for tution and fees, but it's worth it. Same class with same professor is offered next semester.http://delta.ncsu.edu/apps/coursedetail/index.php?id=PSY:200::601:FALL:2009[Edited on December 8, 2009 at 11:37 AM. Reason : ]

My mistake. I've always had a proctor and when I first started with Distance classes they were through the McKimmon Center. Didn't realize they had changed since I always get e-mails telling me to set up a proctor or schedule a date at the McKimmon Center for exams.

12/8/2009 3:22:41 PM
ehh, the "no. no. no. NO." was a unnecessary (and ridiculous) and seemed a little condescending. That's the kind of thing someone does when they've said something repeatedly and the person still isn't getting it.And i read your link, nothing there supports your claim that all ncsu tests are now proctored through Delta, on Centennial. Not saying you're wrong, just that the link you posted doesn't state that.As a matter of fact, it says that off-campus proctors can be used.Everything I can find specifically states that students can use off-site proctors as long as the instructor approves. If there is a cost, which there is a mckimmon, the student has to cover it.http://distance.ncsu.edu/media/pdfs/de_faculty_manual.pdfIf you work for DE or the proctoring office and that's not true, you should suggest they change their verbiage.
12/8/2009 5:04:01 PM
hmm...have they changed it since summer of 08? Cause I definitely had a DE exam for nc state proctored at the mckimmon center.
