Wasnt sure whether to post this in tech talk or here, but thought I would ask. The radio in my truck finally died, so I am looking to get a new one for myself for xmas. I would love to get one that has bluetooth support, so I can do handsfree calls through my car speakers. I also would like to not break the bank. Its a $500 truck, so putting an expensive head unit in just doesnt make sense. Its a 1992 dodge dakota with the extended cab if you need to check to see if a specific model fits.Any suggestions on brand, specific unit, etc..?

Frankly, that's about all you really needed at this stage in the game. Crutchfield is a great company, and if you have questions about fit or features of a model you like, just call them. Browse around the site, find something you like, then call them up if you have further questions. I've had very good luck with their tech support, and at least in my case, they knew stuff about installing in my specific vehicle that I couldn't find anywhere else.Once you have it, but don't know what to do with it, then folks here might be some help, but for all you're asking, Crutchfield's site and support is all the expert advice you really need.

I know what models fit my car, was just hoping someone had preference regarding brand, like does Sony bluetooth work better than another brand, etc..Oh well.EDIT: ^ Thanks Igor.[Edited on November 17, 2009 at 4:33 PM. Reason : .]

I dont know about bluetooth, but as far as audio quality, you need to stick with Alpine/Kenwood/Pioneer.I always recommend putting Pioneer h/u's in if you arent installing amps, the Pioneer h/u's have the strongest internal amp of the regular head units, and often the cheaper models have crossovers to help keep your stock crappy speakers from playing sub bass.

^^Audio quality is a valid point when the owner of the "$500" truck asks about bluetooth capability.
