I really don't know what to think of this. On one hand I really really really love the POP series and have been playing since the original 2-D platformer. In addition to that, the trailer doesn't look too bad and the first Pirates of the Caribbean was a good film. On the other hand... the curse of the video game movie (at least Uwe Boll had nothing to do with this). Based on the trailer though, they did a good job of giving it the same adventurous feel of the Sands of Time trilogy. The fanboy within though hates it that they gave the prince an actual name.

I won't be happy unless after every fight they go to a cutscene of him sheathing his sword and dagger. Also needs some wall running.
11/3/2009 10:26:49 AM
at the end of the movie, a jet engine falls onto the prince and kills him

will suck ass

Why are they all speaking with english accents? It's PERSIA.
5/12/2010 3:19:58 AM
^Hollywood always does that. It is foreign enough that people don't associate the people with being American but they are still speaking English so you don't have to read subtitles. I'd think they would just get them to speak with an Iranian accent but I guess English ones are easier for actors since they can apply it to more roles.
5/12/2010 10:21:04 AM
I just don't agree with who they got to play the lead. He does not look in any way Persian...disturbing. But will probably end up seeing this on matinee III

Because they wanted to give the audience the impression that these are the inhabitants of a quasi-exotic, yet sophisticated empire....without speaking a language no one fucking understands. This is also why romans tend to have english accents in the movies.
5/12/2010 3:23:07 PM
I can understand the language thing easily. If they truly wanted to keep language real, everything would be in subtitles or in accents that people (other than the culture in the movie) would understand. But a white Persian Prince.... hmmmm III
5/12/2010 6:04:24 PM
^^ So why do all of the Imperial officers have english accents while all imperial foot soldiers and everyone in the rebel alliance has an american accent?

this will be awfulit will gross billions of dollarswelcome to the United States of America

i just saw this. it was pretty horrible BUT still more entertaining than i thought it would be. i actually found it quite funny.
5/29/2010 10:04:01 PM
That is the whitest-looking Persian I've ever seen.
5/29/2010 10:47:54 PM
I wouldn't go as far as to say it was horrible. It wasn't great, but it wasn't really that bad. It was a lot better than any video game movie I've seen before.

Somebody pointed out that every time a "bad guy" does the right thing in this movie, he gets killed. It happened in Pirates of the Carribean too.
5/31/2010 8:57:50 PM
Isnt Jake Gylennhall gay?
5/31/2010 10:57:54 PM
Saw it saturday. I thought it was pretty good for a stupid summer action flick and was probably one of the best video game movies I've seen. Visual effects and the copious amounts of free running - win.
6/1/2010 9:51:50 AM
hmmm guess i'll go see this now

yea an alright action adventure movie. it was a decent 7.5/10 with the added scenes of the girl in skimpy outfits and fairly good one liners from the fat merchant guy [Edited on June 1, 2010 at 12:07 PM. Reason : .]

it exceeded my expectations. those aren't very high for either a video-game adaptation or an "action/adventure" of this sort. But I thought it was definitely entertaining and enjoyable for what it is. And it doesn't try to be anything more than a formulaic, adventure story with the single purpose of entertaining.I wasn't expecting Alfred Molina. He was entertaining in it as "the fat, merchant guy."So yeah, if you're expecting No Country for Old Men w/parkour, you're gonna be let down. But then again, you deserve it for being so foolish.
6/1/2010 2:39:44 PM
The acting/writing was horrible, but it was entertaining enough.
