I just installed Karmic Koala and I would like to have that replace Vista. I want to move Vista over to my external HD and still be able to run it when I need to. Is it possible to do this and if so what would I have to do? I'm so sick of Vista's crap and I'm willing to learn a new os but I don't know too much about stuff like this so any help would be great.

1. You can get Windows 7 for $30. If you can't follow the gazillion tutorials out there on dual-booting, your best bet might be to stick with Windows.2. ubuntuforums.org is massive, and a far better resource than TWW.

First, if you are most familiar with windows, and hate Vista, Get Windows 7If you want to use ubuntu, its totally different. I at one point was like you and now am pretty good with it, but it took a lot of time and effort. Help is there to figure out stuff like ernie said, ubuntu has a support forum thats wayyy good. Its also referenced, so you can type like "ubuntu do this" and google 99% of the time the first link will give you want you want. As far as dual booting which is want you want to do it can be done. I did exactly that on my laptop for a while. What you probably want to do is install Vista on your HD, then install ubuntu on your laptop. Reason being is boot mgrs suck. Each are different for OS's and Windows only likes itself. Grub is what is normally used with ubuntu, and it allows you to pick different OS's.

I've had a few issues upgrading from JJ to KK on my Asus netbook. Most the the problems center around the new netbook remix UI. It looks like they forgot to include a button to log out and shutdown.

Ya im not liking some of the new UI stuff. I got it installed fine. but on first reboot it dropped to terminal Also took me 5 minutes to find a terminal as they didnt have one on the task bar any more. Fixed that myself
