Anyone know a dentist open Sundays? I looked through some of the other general dentist threads and searched pretty well, but can't seem to find one. Boyfriend is in horrible pain and would really rather not wait till Monday if possible. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure what's wrong and without seeing or examining him I can't give you any specific advice but if he starts running a fever or has swelling outside the immediate vicinity of the mouth don't wait to go to the ER. I've seen infection from abscessed teeth spread up into the orbits within 24 hours leading to blindness and sepsis within 48. That's an extreme case but don't monkey around with an infection.

If he doesn't pull through shoot me a PM.

It's the lounge, guy.Serious business. That said, there's yellowpages listings for emergency dentists, and most dentists will have an option to call in an emergency (at least the bigger groups).[Edited on October 31, 2009 at 11:05 PM. Reason : emergency dentists as in dentists that don't mind coming in afterhours for $omg]

Dunno what happened with this...but one option would be to call the emergency dept at your closest hospital and ask them for the number of the dentist/dental surgeon they have on-call.

when i had an abscess that hit me pretty quickly, i called my dentist's emergency number. he immediately prescribed me amoxicillin, which started working within 24-48 hrs for the infection.usually if they can prescribe something they will and then just get you in first thing

If he doesnt have a regular dentist he is SOLi had this happen to me a few months ago when my impacted wisdom teeth were giving me unbearable pain.went to ER and they gave me a shot of some stuff like novacain and then a prescription for hydrocodone, norco, and penicillinthen went to dental works when they could fit me in only to find out i had to have my wisdom teeth removed asap and a root canal done when one of my wisdom teeth had partially come in and broke a another tooth.and i didnt have dental insurance, but we found a great place the did the wisdom teeth and let my mom make payments

He ended up calling in a favor to a family friend (luckily his parents had just taken an oral surgeon gulf fishing last weekend), we drove to Greensboro, and he had an emergency root canal. Makes for a less than spectacular Sunday, but he feels better! For future searches, I called all over- no one would take an emergency appointment unless they were already a patient. And it ended up being REALLY expensive. Thanks for the response!

I have regular cleanings and take decent care of my teeth, but I also had an emergency root canal.Lucky enough to have dental insurance but yea, it was about $1,800 to do that, then another $600 for the crown.
