What's the best stuff to use to prevent it and get rid of that stupid film?

Get the shower spray stuff that your supposed to spray when you get out.

You mean mildew? I just use some lysol multipurpose cleaner. It's a very diluted acid, it smells like lemons, and it kicks ass (some scrubbing required for soap scum).

Stop peeing in your shower. Also, try Clorox Bleach shower/tile cleaner and a scrubbing sponge.

Soft scrub and a brush.Preventing it would require your shower to remain dry. You're just gonna need ot clean it periodically.

it's just bacteria, bleach will kill it

I thought orange was hard water stainsI get them in my toilet and shower
10/29/2009 5:13:36 PM
i have never seen pink or orange mildew.
10/29/2009 5:24:43 PM
The pink is definitely mildew, and it comes from your skin + the city water. It comes up easily with regular cleaning. The orange stuff is a different story. I'm not sure what it is, it only grows in my tile grout, and it's hard to get rid of.Clean the shower well with pinesol, scrubbing bubbles, 409, etc then use that daily shower spray religiously.

iron?

I have orange stains in the tub/toilet at my place in SC, I believe it is hard water. Unfortunately the only way I have found that works is elbow grease. "no scrub" cleaners are a damn lie! ]

Magic Eraser is fucking awesome for showers. That will get anything off--mildew, mold, hard water stains, ground in dirt--amazing.* *For fiberglass surrounds/tubs. I have not tried it on a ceramic tub and do not know what, if anything, it would accomplish.
10/29/2009 7:34:24 PM
i get this stuff too. i just splash a little clorox on it and scrub for a few seconds and it's gone.

Dude, you haven't paid for a cleaning service for your house yet? Otherwise, pay the $20 for http://automaticshowercleaner.com/. It doesn't stop it, but it sure as hell slows it down. Not sure what your cleanlineness factor is, but, went through about 1 a month, and by that time, the bathroom needed cleaning anyways. Refill bottles are $3-$4.Get rid of once already there? If you have a fiberglass shower, buy an SOS pad.
