Replaced a bad water pump on the maytag washer today (less than 5 yrs old) and while i was at it took the dryer apart and sucked all the lint out of the duct work. These new appliances are built like shit. Cashwells appliance parts had the pump in stock, highly recommend shopping there.

You gotta watch cashwells. He quoted me $85 the other day for a part that's $20 shipped all over ebay. I told him straight up, "I'd rather buy it from you. Can you work with me any at all on this?" Dude said, "Wow. That's a deal. You should buy that one." Haha.Of course the damn dryer isn't even worth $20, but it certainly wasn't worth $85.I've mostly stopped fixing appliances. I just grab a new one for $20 off craigslist and keep trucking.

gone are the days of cast iron pumps and gearboxes, everything is plastic on those now

Ain't that the truth. When I was married, I wondered why the damn washing machine started whining so loud and there was a gear oil smell in the air. Took the front panel off to find individual ball bearings scattered in the bottom pan...in a pool of gear oil.Keep in mind this was back before the days of craigslist. I ended up getting a new tranny for it for 110 bux. Weakass damn thing compared to my parents' 1970 Kenmore (really Whirlpool) shit.
