So I came home after work and my computer was turned offPushed the power button, the led lights and fans came on, but nothing else was happening. No drives spinning, nothing going to the monitor, no sounds, etc.Fans and lights stay on for about 20-30 seconds, then turn themselves off.Do I need a new motherboard?[Edited on October 23, 2009 at 6:52 PM. just for shits and giggles, i'd try testing a second power supply first.also, try the usual sorts of things... checking power connections, making sure RAM is seated properly, etc.

just unplugged/re-plugged everything again, then switching the power supply out then back in (my other one did the same thing).Tried to start it about 5 more times, finally it started (but it took about 20 seconds of the fans and lights being on before it happened). So is this a motherboard problem or what? I don't want to have to go through this every time.[Edited on October 23, 2009 at 9:17 PM. Reason : -]

hard to be sure, but you might be right. too bad a mobo isn't exactly the easiest component to swap out to test

have you tried reseating everything?

Even better, give the case a good thwack on the next boot up and see if it starts immediately after the impact.
