I know this is [old] but I took the requisite 5 seconds to search and didn't find another post on this.http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1213682/Eddie-Izzard-completes-mega-seven-week-marathon-blisters-blisters.htmlCan someone explain how he can physically run 43 full marathons in 51 days after only 5 weeks of training? From what I've heard from other runners, you're pretty much dead for a week after doing 1 marathon.[Edited on October 20, 2009 at 6:20 PM. Reason : better link]

if there were one thing he was successful at in life, I wish it was this.

if you can learn to ignore pain, all manner of things are possible
10/20/2009 6:22:25 PM
That's like saying "If you can ignore pain, you can stab yourself in the heart"
10/20/2009 6:25:00 PM
in that case, you don't have to ignore it very long...

pretty impressive, and put about $400,000 towards charity (I think the pound to dollar ratio is roughly 1:2)I can hate on dude for plenty of things, but this isn't one of them]

He looks old without makeup

The only part I'm surprised by is the determination. His fastest 27-mile run was 5:00:30, which isn't really that fast (about 35% faster than a walking pace). If you just walked 8 hours a day, you could complete the same journey in less time.
10/20/2009 6:29:27 PM
wait a sec, that dude's a chick?
10/20/2009 6:48:07 PM
Who?
10/20/2009 6:57:15 PM
Eddie Izzard is awesome and his stand-up is hilarious.

Cake or Death?Cake please!Cake it is... We weren't expecting such a huge rush on the cake...
10/20/2009 7:11:27 PM
I wonder how many pounds he lost from starting training to completing the marathon.
10/20/2009 7:31:58 PM
It said he probably gained weight because of muscle building, but that he was likely leaner.

Eddie Izzard Rules!!!
10/20/2009 7:51:13 PM
looked better in 70s glam than drag
10/20/2009 9:43:41 PM
This is also proof that while you can slim down, no amount of working out will change your body type.good for Eddie though, that guy is hilarious. Remember the bit about the squirrel?

What body-type was he trying to change? Dude's probably got less than 5% bmi.
10/21/2009 1:00:09 AM
Izzard is a little chunky, but I think he's just like that naturally.I don't know why you'd do that many so close together. My uncle used to do one a week and he ended up in the hospital eventually.

He looks like Simon Pegg in Run, Fatboy, Run.

Well for one, he's not very funny. And the cross dressing and make up shtick is pretty old hat.
10/21/2009 1:07:32 PM
That's nice. What I really want to know is when in the hell does "The Riches" come back on FX??

http://news.yahoo.com/eddie-izzard-27-marathons-27-days-202425953.htmlHe did it again
3/21/2016 11:16:51 PM
Lol at gaining muscle while running marathons not gonna happen. He didn't lose weight because fat loss ceases after about 5 lbs of cardio. You need to lift to lose fat
