Did an '03 Honda Odyssey this weekend. I think I could do Hondas in my sleep now.Need a Honda timing belt done right and cheap? I's yo' fool.

My brother needs all that shit done on his 4Runner. It's the next gen after mine with the V8. I keep telling him to let me know when he's ready to do it so I can get him in touch with you.[Edited on October 20, 2009 at 1:45 PM. Reason : l]

I rock a chain son. A chain. ...and plastic tensioners...
10/20/2009 1:58:29 PM
^^I'm all over that shit like stink on rice...I mean white on shit. I can do a lot of the 'yotas in my sleep nearabouts.^I've seen a lot of those guides go 300k miles. Unless it was American made. Then 100k miles.
10/20/2009 2:59:24 PM
If it's shit on rice, you must be referring to Uncle Ben's dirty rice. amirite?
10/20/2009 3:01:51 PM
fucking plastic guide on a hydraulic tensioner broke on my LS. plastic piece jammed between the chain and cam sprocket and ended up breaking the chain. several valves were broken and many a piston was damaged.
10/20/2009 3:17:34 PM
^^yeah, I'm gonna come up with my own brand tho...Uncle Stinky's Doo Doo Rice.
10/20/2009 3:24:42 PM
I'll need one on my accord in about 60,000 mi. I'll hit you up in a few years.
10/20/2009 3:25:44 PM
drive to statesville and do my 3vze
10/20/2009 4:26:05 PM
What about the corrola you messed up on a few weeks ago?[Edited on October 20, 2009 at 4:42 PM. Reason : Fool]
10/20/2009 4:42:13 PM
Good point. I don't do many corollas. Anything else I've touched has been a piece of cake. Guess Toyota should have put real timing marks on the crank sprocket. There are none.
10/20/2009 5:00:36 PM
Yeah, I'm hoping my guides will make the long haul. My sentra(GA16DE) is at 140k now, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Do I need to go through the timing chain to get at the water pump? I'll probably need that at some point, so may as well do the tensioners then if I have to get at them anyway. If and when any of the above fails, I'll shout you a holla zxappeal.
10/20/2009 5:06:56 PM
Nope. You don't need to touch the timing chain or the tensioners to do the water pump.
10/20/2009 6:19:09 PM
WORD. Still a PITA, I'm sure. [Edited on October 20, 2009 at 6:25 PM. Reason : .]
10/20/2009 6:25:24 PM
2003 Accord 4-cylinder. Silver. I don't even think it has a timing belt... there is no mention of one in the manual.
10/20/2009 7:14:53 PM
10/20/2009 7:37:14 PM
^ I think my 97 Q does not have that plastic crap. I thought they ended that in 94 or something?
10/20/2009 8:55:13 PM
yeah, it was only the early models. my 91 had them. they're replaceable with metal ones, though.
10/20/2009 9:25:17 PM
'03 is the first year of the Accord 4 cyl. to feature a chain instead of a belt. The K24A4 engine.
10/21/2009 10:53:38 AM
cause chains are more balla than belts
10/22/2009 7:03:14 AM
^^yeah, i meant to say belt, had chains on my mind from the infiniti comment. oops
10/22/2009 7:46:27 PM
makes you wonder why chains aren't more common
10/26/2009 9:20:31 PM
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ same reason as every other automotive decision.
10/26/2009 9:40:58 PM
they really aren't that much more expensive and much more reliable
10/28/2009 10:37:42 AM
doesn't matteras long as it lasts past the warranty period and costs less overall then that's all they give a fuck about. the whole idea of giving a better product for a minuscule amount of money more does not compute with the ass fucks at automotive companies.
10/28/2009 11:32:48 AM
^^How many fail prematurely? They get 600$ post warranty to replace it in an hour. Why would you not put a belt on the car?
10/28/2009 12:17:22 PM
i dunno, maybe because chains worked fine for the life of the engine for 80 years and didn't need replacementi mean for fucks sake, if you can't make an oil seal that outlasts a timing belt, and a leak will destroy it before the service interval, then it doesn't matter if you have a solid gold plated kevlar belt that will last two billion miles as long as oil doesn't get on it
10/29/2009 9:07:11 AM
I was expecting you to understand the business case behind the engineering decision.
10/29/2009 10:29:12 AM
very little of that would make it back to the manufacturer, who takes their vehicle to a dealer for non warranty work?
10/29/2009 11:08:36 AM
Have you ever been to a honda dealership parts/service? Every bit of a chain lasting 200k miles makes its way into the dealership as a higher cost car to produce. Are you trying to form an argument or what? In a perfect world cars would have timing chains. I can agree with you on the obvious.
10/29/2009 4:49:27 PM
Belt is more accurate and maintains much better timing and backlash. Chain stretches over the years. True, they last forever, but I'd almost rather have the belt on my own shit. Easier to adjust cam timing on engines that don't have variable valve timing.
10/29/2009 4:52:00 PM
I had my timing belt and water pump replaced a few months back for $280.00, parts and labor. Beat that, FOOL!
10/29/2009 6:26:04 PM
Your faggot ass probably drives an '87 Nissan Sentra. Or a goddamn pinto.

haha, FOOL'94photos/00509663.jpg
10/29/2009 9:49:18 PM
you got ripped the fuck off if you paid $280 for someone to do a timing belt and water pump on that truck, it takes an hour tops
