Hey,We have looked everywhere for 12 point 1/2" and 1/4" Deep Well Socket Sets (not to be confused with deep well high impact we can find plenty of those). Harbor freight, sears, lowes, home depot, Northern Tool all do not have them. Also cannot find any Ford Wrenches ~ and no, they aren't wrenches specificaly made for Ford Vehicles as the Northern Tool and Sears associates asked lol.6 point is easy to find... 12 point has been a challenge! If anyone has these socket sets or ford wrenches they want to sell or knows of a cheap place to pick up these sets let me know! I have found them online, but they are pretty pricey.[Edited on September 29, 2009 at 11:38 AM. Reason : .]

A ford wrench is a monkey wrench.or General Purpose Adjustable Wrench with a Sliding Jaw.Find them anywhere.[Edited on September 29, 2009 at 1:43 PM. Reason : i got mine at lowes for $7.]

what exactly are you trying to remove?

12pt 1/4" drive deep wells should be easy to find. mine are craftsman and they came in a huge set.my dad has 1/2" drive 12 pt deep wells. they're Snap-On. might wanna pick up a saw too if you decide to buy a set of those so you can cut off your arm and leg to pay for them.

wtf is a ford wrench
9/29/2009 11:50:32 PM
It's for work on Helicopters, UH-60's. Once again, I already found them online just not wanting to pay tons for em'! Sears is a freaking rip off on all there tools.Ford wrenches, I assure you, can't be found anywhere. We could not find them at Lowes. This is what they look like. Different from everyday wrenches.[Edited on September 30, 2009 at 3:53 PM. Reason : .]

Sears isn't THAT bad for some tools, especially if you check out Snap On or Matco online. Especially for hard-to-find tools. I've often paid over 75 dollars for a single wrench or specialty tool when nobody else has made it. Some things are just naturally very expensive.
9/30/2009 4:21:24 PM
I've got one of those...that was used on Model T's. And no, you can't buy it.Why won't a regular knucklebuster work?
9/30/2009 4:51:24 PM
that's a commonly used tool for plumbing work too. i've always heard them called spud wrenches.
9/30/2009 5:14:27 PM
http://www.ridgid.com/Tools/Spud-Wrench/you just suck at finding things, any sears store can get the sockets you said they dont have that i linked to earlier, and any retailer that has ridgid tools can get the spud wrench i linked to, including lowes, but ferguson enterprises probably has it on the shelf
9/30/2009 6:33:05 PM
sears in cary only really has 6pt in stock. i personally like the aligator pliers more than the monkey wrench. just cause it tightens up the more you apply pressure to one side

69 For the 3rd time I already found them online. I was hoping someone new a place that carried them instock at more harbor freight type prices. And NO a spud wrench IS NOT the same as a Ford Wrench Spud FordAs much as you all shop around, I thought it was worth askin' or at least checking if someone had a set that didin't need anymore. The 6 point sets are easy to find in stock at stores, but 12 point SAE have been tough for deep well.[Edited on October 1, 2009 at 9:48 AM. I fail to see how a ford wrench will function differently than the alternatives given in this thread.
10/1/2009 11:11:26 AM
^ Which is probably why you, me and most of the rest of us here don't work on these: This thread needed a good helo pic anyway

What the hell kind of heliopter mechanic uses the cheapest shit tools they can buy?
10/1/2009 3:01:10 PM
I sure wouldn't be working on a fucking Blackhawk with a goddamn Harbor Freight wrench.Of course the pic of the wrench she posted is a Crescent brand.
10/1/2009 3:27:48 PM
^^Yeah... who needs expensive Tools when a Tool like you is a dime a dozen? Seriously though, you have to have all your own tools and the list is long, very very long. Might as well have to take out a loan. We have spent close to $5000 already in tools and still don't have everything that is possibly needed. Sometimes you buy the best, other times you make due until you can buy "Name Brand". It's a blackhawk, not a space shuttle rocket! [Edited on October 1, 2009 at 4:35 PM. Reason : .]

i don't think i really want someone who can't locate those items working on something that could crash into my house

I don't want someone using a plumbing wrench on my million dollar aircraft

Dad used to say, "Son, now each tool has a purpose... Use the right one for the right job or GTFO of my garage and give me back my damn tools."
10/2/2009 10:48:06 AM
The twatwaffle never said what this would be used on...my guess is some old POS tractor.
10/2/2009 10:55:09 AM
^ PCL and PCR Bolts on the aircraft is what the Ford wrench is used for. A spud wrench won't open as wide as a Ford wrench Dickhead. Stick to your POS Jeep. We are done here.[/thread]

this sounds like a disaster, the little bit of experience i have with military aircraft maintenenace is that you have a very specific set of tools, no more, no less, exactly for the task, and every one better be accounted for, if you think an entire squadron won't be grounded while you look for a socket for six hours that ended up in a floor drain, you would be wrongoverall, it sounds like you are just completely in over your head, unless you are heading to some gay ass uti aircraft tech class or something for crackheads that couldn't get a degree from university of pheonix online or devry
10/4/2009 9:38:12 PM
so what are you saying about nascar tech grads?
