Anyone actually know anything?

there's typically not a lot of intense discussion on copier technology around these parts

I know a bit about them. They're from UNC Surplus. They sat there for months, and anybody who knew anything about this type of equipment (including myself) ignored them. Quite simply they're a nightmare in consumables cost and maintenance and calibration. Nobody in a home or small office setting would buy one. And anybody in a professional setting would buy something NEW (or lease it). You need special software to even print anything on them, and that software )if its even still available) costs thousands.Your friend basically wasted the $100 they cost (if I remember right, they were both priced at $50.) They have ZERO resale value. Your only chance of seeing money from them is tearing them down for parts and selling said parts in eBay. And even that's a longshot.

Oh they were given to my friend. The guy said either sell them or use them for target practice.I guess we will get to see what a .308 NATO round will do to a printer this weekend.

Probably a bad plan. Toner will spew EVERYWHERE, and its impossible to clean up outdoors. Toxic, too, if you breathe in the clouds of it you'll be making.

hahahaha fregac pissing all over hopes and dreams ITT

^Is toner flammable?
10/2/2009 8:52:38 AM
you should just recycle them like responsible citizens.
10/2/2009 9:30:29 AM
^^Generally not, but if you have a dense cloud you could get a dust explosion.I once blasted an old Laserjet 4500 out with compressed air to get out accumulated toner, and had to take my truck through the wash twice to get all the toner off (it was downwind). Our driveway was funky colors for months. And that printer was about 1/5th of the size of these.

So what you are saying is throw these away and dont try to get $800 for them like the ppl on ebay?
10/2/2009 6:04:58 PM
Only one I see is at $199 or best offer, and nobody is touching it . . . . and its fully tested and warrantied. And good luck shipping the things, they have to go freight.

Well crap. I guess I aint lost anything I dont reckon.
