Anybody have a good brand they use for watering their lawn (preferably I can pick up locally)? I'm getting my lawn re-seeded this week and want to pick up a timer and some portable sprinklers so the grass seed doesn't die.

ever look in to soil-moisture or weather based sprinkler controls? they're more expensive initially but recent research has shown that they end up saving money in the end due to the amount of water savings. soil-moisture controls have been shown to be the best controllers as soil moisture is what really counts.if you do go with a timer, please at least time it to water early/late and not during the day. I'm not sure on brands though... [Edited on September 15, 2009 at 9:53 PM. Reason : .]

back when i was in charge of helping with the high school football field, i set the sprinklers to go off during marching band practice

lol. that is certainly an acceptable deviation from early/late watering

We've always used Rain Bird sprinkler systems at the tennis club I work at and they've been awesome.
