Ok, I have a question some of you Jeep people may be able to answer....I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo Sport (4.0L, 4x2)....The body is in great shape, but both the front and rear bumper have dings and dents in them from parking mishaps (previous owner). I have been looking at new bumpers online and RockAuto.com has them for very cheap. The issue is this....The Laredo Grand Cherokee as you know has the grey textured bumper that is not painted...but on RockAuto's website, they list a few different colors of the bumper cover (dark grey, light grey, and then a dark brownstone color). I have been looking at GC's from that year and they all seem to have the same color bumper....Does anyone know if this is true? Are there different color bumpers or are they all the same color, maybe different after market suppliers called it a different color? I do have fog lights and I do have a trail hitch. Finally, the issue is I can order it and send it back, but i'd have to still pay shipping, which is about $90 for a bumper. Any thoughts?

you sure those arent painted? just because they look like plastic doesn't mean they aren't painted. without paint plastic will turn an ugly faded/white color in a few years of being in the sun.although it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't.as for your real question--no idea

You may be right. My guess was no, mainly because it is textured and looks like it is the base color. Even where it has been scuffed/scraped it looks like it is about the same color under the scratches. Does anyone know if these are painted? If that is the case, then I also wonder what kind of paint they would use, I doubt if it is the same auto paint as is used for metal body...anyone?

I don't see why they would use different paint. I mean, hopefully you wouldn't without priming... I know you don't have to.. but still.

Looks like this? I know the endcaps on my cherokee were bare plastic, and looked identical to this.

That's it, i'm pretty sure it isn't painted....that being said, the question is would you call that light grey, dark grey, or sandstone brown.....and were there really different colors offered by jeep?

Here is a pic of my bumper (although a crappy picture).....but it does look a different color than the one above (darker)....is the one above just faded?[Edited on September 14, 2009 at 11:27 AM. Reason : pic]

^ Looks dark grey to me. Definitely not sandstone brown, so you can throw that one out. I can't imagine anyone calling that light grey either. Sounds like dark grey it is.

^^ Ditto on CertiFit. They're a great bunch of people and actually I went down there and got a front bumper for my old '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Don't think I paid more that $45 for the thing, but that was like 3 years ago.
