I have never really played either of them (except wii fit, which was awesome). My games of choice are the first-person fighting games (Call of Duty, Medal of Honor, etc). I know they are good on PS3, i just cant figure out how you would play that on wii with just one controller.

I need tww input

PS HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

FPS games on wii use the nunchuk as well as the remote, so you aren't just using one controller as you put it.

happy b-day
mine was two days ago

but as for your question, a wii is good for party games. my experience has been that FPS on wii SUCKS.

(although they do have a "shooter" controller now, which may make it better. I dont know havent tried that)

Get a PS3. Games are better and plus you would have a Blu-Ray player.

if you have roommates or often have friends over who enjoy playing games then the Wii is a good choice.

But if you play alone almost all the time then go for the ps3.

None of my friends really enjoy videogames anymore so a Wii would be nothing more than a paperweight to me.

I have both and would say buy a PS3. I play the PS3 a lot more than I play the wii, there really arent a whole lot of worthwhile games on wii, its more of a party/novelty system. The PS3 has tons more games to play.

Plus it is a blueray player...

PS3. So much more useful. You can stream music and videos from your computer into whatever sound/entertainment system you have, bluray, great games.

Wii you drag out every once in awhile with fruends, but even that can get boring. In my experience its beena system that looks great on paper, but in execution its very meh.

Just to reiterate what everybody else is saying:

For FPS games I'd definitely go with the PS3. You get the benefit of a blu-ray player as well if you don't have one. I got a 360, Wii, and PS3 (in that order)... I sold the Wii a few months after getting the PS3. Wii's are good party/multi-people games but I found myself never wanting to play it unless somebody else was playing with me (like in person, not online). Also PS3 graphics>Wii graphics (yea it's not all about graphics but let's face it, if you have a hdtv you somewhat care about graphics/picture quality... unless your old square tv died recently or something).

i love my wii, but the only games i have for it are all first party (mario, zelda, metriod etc), so i don't play it very often when i don't have a new game. i've thought about getting a ps3 recently. i'd say get that if you are mostly into FPS

ps3 is the better platform by far.. and blue ray player is awesome

wii is more fun to have to just fuck around with every now and then since it's all interface and shit

Why wouldn't you consider the 360? If you're going for games it's better than the two you mentioned. I have all three and the only one that gets any use at all these days is the 360.

i have both. a ps3 is the way to go.

the wii was awesome for about 7-8 months then i was sick of it. i just want to sit down with a normal controller sometimes and not have to flail my arms all around to play.

360 doesnt have a bluray player

go pick up the controllers. see how the 360 and the ps3 ones fit in your hand. i personally really don't like the 360 controller shape and layout. the ps design is the best ever.

ps3 has bluray, built in wifi, 7.1 audio (iirc, 360 does not, could be wrong), dualshock controllers, free access to their online stuff (have to pay for xbox live subscription).

360 has netflix.

My PS3 was, without a doubt, the worst $400 I've ever spent.

If you're interested in blu-ray, get a 360 and a $99 blu-ray player from walmart. At least that will come with a fucking remote control that you can use.

you can't figure out how to use the controller as a remote?? damn

they rated bluray players on g4 last week and the ps3 was still the best. only one (they rated) with 7.1 audio.

in gaming, ps3 sucks balls, they will release a game on both systems, it will be 1080p for 360 and 720p of ps3, explain that... plus, there are better games of 360, and I don't mind paying for the network because it doesn't lag like ps3's free network... I have both... my sony 7.1 receiver works just fine on 360...

Contrary to Jeepin, I have plenty of friends that still play games

Its just that we dont go over to each others houses to play like we did when we were 14

We play online, swearing and mocking all the same, thru ps3 and xbox

When I see my friends in person (which is increasingly rare), we want to hang out and do hoodrat stuff, not sit around and play nintendo

No, you stupid cunt, I can figure it out just fine. I just wouldn't mind being able to use my $300 universal remote with it. You know, like I can do with every other piece of electronic equipment made for the last 30 years. What's the point of having this wonderful blu-ray player that's supposed to be the center of your Entertainment center, but you still have to pull out a fucking video game controller in order to pause your movie? Retarded as hell.

And before you even start back up with your stupid shit, yes I know you can get bluetooth converters (I have one, cost me $80) and ir usb sticks (that don't do half the shit you want) or a bluetooth remote control. None of that changes the fact that Sony is stupider than you are for not putting IR on the damn thing to begin with.

hahahha damn you get mad soooo easy. i love this place.

i'm perfectly capable of picking up the controller when i need to use it as a remote b/c i don't watch movies everyday and it's not a big deal just to stick it in the drawer next to my chair. i wouldn't waste $300 on a remote anyway. that's crazy.

I, too, would suggest a 360 over a PS3, if solely for the Netflix. Its amazing.

get a PS3. they currently are selling the older style at Best Buy for $299 and it includes a $50 gift card. you could put that towards a game or some bluray movies.

I have both. If its just between the PS3 and the wii and you're into real gaming, especially shooters or fighting you would do better to get the PS3, I play my 360 a lot too, they both have a lot of good games in the shooter, platformer, RPG and fighting categories. The wii is fun, but its really kind of a toy, not to say its not a good toy, but it's mainly for simple party games, variety games, puzzles, and a few decent platformers.

PS3 For shooters Wii is really awkward. I have Resident Evil 4 Wii Edition and Call of Duty 4 which are really fun but like I said awkward to play. To throw grenades you got to move the remote in a cirlce press a button and let go at just the right time to ensure you throw a frag instead of a smoke, or vice versa. For party games Wii is awesome, Mario Power Tennis is a fun game as well as the mario parties. Its all in what you play

I'd also suggest considering the 360. The only advantage a PS3 has over the 360 is the Blu-Ray player. Some say the PS3 has better graphics, but it is only really noticeable if you have like a 70 inch TV. 360 has a larger gaming library, better exclusives, and an extremely stable and reliable online network. I haven't played PS3 network before so I don't know how well it performs, but Xbox Live is pretty much flawless. Yes, it costs like $50 a year or something, but you honestly do get what you pay for. Streaming Netflix is an awesome tool as well.
