Interesting show right now on Guantanamo Bay on the Discovery channel.Holy fuck after watching this shit I do not see how the people running the show in the Bush administration can not be investigated for war crimes or at the least abuse of power.

I bet this thread gets more reads for you having misspelled the title with people wanting to come in and correct you. I for one did not initially notice it though. I guess its like that thing where you can misspell words & rearrange the letters, but as long as the first and last letter are right you can still read it.

^ Ugh, how about locking people up without a trial and without showing them any 'evidence' and then releasing them after 5 years without any charges or even a trial? Did you really just ask that?Every American should see this move: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_to_Guantanamo

Keep in mind that movie is based on the account of 3 liars. I'm not saying bad shit doesn't go down at Guantanamo, but when you watch that "docudrama", keep that in mind.

3 liars? So you are saying you know for a fact they are liars? What did they lie about? Why were they released without trial and without charges?

Hey! I recently heard a great idea for what to do with Guantanamo Bay! The size of the U.S. preserve is large enough for a city. As such, we should create a civil authority to manage the territory. Then, open the new city to unrestricted immigration, funding the civil authority, police and fire, through land sales. Disputes will be settled under foreign jurisdiction, such as a judge appointed to administer Navada law in the district. Now, with secure property rights and free immigration, the city will grow into a large and prosperous metropolis, the Hong Kong of Central America. And, whenever Cuba drops this whole Communism thing, there will be a whole city of culturally similar capitalists ready and willing to help the transition.

Everyone in Guantanamo who is dangerous can be easily held in America. Everyone who isn't dangerous can simply be returned to their native lands. We have much, much worse people in the Supermax (I remember the Daily Show showing a guy who ate human brains) than Guantanamo Bay. To say that we would be making citizens "unsafe" by bringing our war prisoners (no, they're not "detainees") inside our borders is just fear-mongering.

only one of them did.and i didn't know it was against US law to attend a camp like that, if the intention is just to learn about weapons.

And that's just because it's political suicide, and it's only political suicide because of the fear-mongering on the right. If Bev Purdue said that she was agreeing to place them in NC, I would have absolutely NO problem with it. In fact, I would encourage it because it would create jobs.
