0-200 in 13 sec
200-0 in 7 sec

Even the Veyron takes 18 sec to reach 200 mph, so this is guaranteed to be an acceleration monster.

Projected figures:

Quote :
"The car will cost $600,000, but you can spend an extra $125,000 for a 1200bhp engine upgrade, which makes the right-hand-drive option look cheap at $24,000.

Specifications:

Vehicle Type:
Mid-engine, rear-drive; 2-door, 2-passenger

1,000 hp/ton

That's like the Caparo T1.

Talking of the Caparo, did they sell any of those, or even produce an appreciable number?

Hell, the S2000 is pointless son.

This is so pointless the thread maker should be shot by TWW standards. Why aren't we shitting down his neck for posting this?

Obviously by merely mentioning it he has essentially stated that he plans to build it from scratch using nothing but toothpicks and his ass cheeks. Why are you going to take that shit son? He can't do this, he'll never do this and even if he could, he shouldn't because, god dammit, nobody should own anything with more power than I approve of. I don't approve of this power output. You can't handle this power output. You should not own something with this power output. I am jealous of this power output. I want this power output. So now I'm going to talk shit about you.

If we aren't allowed to have 1000cc bikes, then we sure as shit aren't allowed to own LS9 powered Exiges that outrun them. Perhaps removing your heads from your asses might help, but it probably wont really.

I like Exiges as much as the next guy, but I don't see any real reason to spend an extra half million dollars on this instead of a C6 ZR1.

Obviously it's a performance car. If you had the money to buy this thing, you could save the half million, put it into a ZR1, and build something that would rape this thing.

It's gotta be fucking difficult to build something like this, otherwise we'd have more 1000+ HP, lightweight, Veyron beating monsters out there. While if you had a mega budget and *unlimited time* it would be fun to develop something yourself, I think the existence of this makes sense, people will buy them, and it's pretty damn cool actually.

In a straight line, yes, but not on a track, IMO. The Hennessey Venom Viper (1,100 hp, 977 at the rear wheels) does 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds (actual timed). And I am sure a similarly powered Corvette would be just as fast, if not faster. And $500,000 could easily get you 1,500 hp. But they can't beat this Exige on the track.

Interestingly, the powerplant for this beast comes from the ZR1!

^Because there's no where else for them to go. you can't have bottom exit exahust on the Exige because the entire underbelly is skinned. And mid-exit would interfere with the rear axle/diff/transmission. So you end up going high

The chassis looks almost exactly like the Exige GT car that runs in the Asian circuits, although it uses an Audi V8 and only has ~400hp if my memory serves.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/110032925383/hennessey-venom-gt-officially-revealed-video
http://www.autoblog.com/2010/03/29/hennessey-venom-gt-a-600k-mid-engine-cobra-for-the-21st-centur/

Officially released!

$600,000 for base model (first link says for middle model)

725 hp, 741 lb-ft
1,000 hp, 900 lb-ft
1,200 hp, 1,100 lb-ft

Ricardo 6-sp manual

< 2,400 lbs

For the 1,200 hp model:

0-60 in 2.4 sec (Veyron 2.46)
0-100 in 5.3 sec (Veyron 5.5)
0-150 mph 8.9 sec (Veyron 9.8)
0-200 mph 14.3 sec (Veyron 18.3)

Top speed 272 mph

Interesting how the projected acceleration figures pretty much match the Veyron's times until 150 mph, even though the weight/power ratio of the Venom is 48% of the Veyron's! Is it all due to RWD vs AWD?

Anyway, they are projections... can't wait for real figures.

Quote :
""This is not the first time that Britain and America have joined forces to produce a weapon of mass propulsion", said company founder and president, John Hennessey. "Over fifty years ago the American-built P51 Mustang fighter aircraft was flown into history powered by a British Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. Today the Hennessey Venom GT promises to set a new standard of power to weight ratio in the rarified air of today's supercar market.""

He also said:

Quote :
""I wanted to have a road-legal car with air conditioning and satellite radio, that had a power-to-weight ratio that is greater than just about every race car short of a Formula One car. I wanted a car that could be taken to Cars and Coffee and be parked with a Pagani Zonda on one side and a Bugatti Veyron on the other. And the entire crowd of car guys would be looking at my car instead of the other two.""

Click links above for more info and lustworthy hires pics, as well as a youtube 'video' made up of stills.

It's due to the limits of physics. Unless you have some sort of active downforce system, you just don't have enough friction between the wheels and the ground to transfer power any more quickly.

While I don't disagree with sparky about the Ferrari red, that flat black is mean as fuck.

Gives it that batmobile type feel.

I can appreciate the matte black, but it's not for everyone. Might be cool if for publicity photos they had a matte black and a red one side by side, or something.

I've always been a fan of a dark pearl gray with a few black chrome accents and black rims, myself.
