Update time. I think Hurley and I have spent 2 or 3 full days working on this thing since the last pictures.Started by plating the frame rails with 3.5" angle, and more 1/4" plate on the inside, after this was taken. Notice the nuts welded inside, these are some of the nuts used to hold the rear link crossmember in. Link crossmember, attached to the bottom and sides of framerails, also sits flush with bottom of frame. Originally I had planned for it to go below, but changed my mind.Tabs for rear lowers and the start of the upper link mounts on axle. Lowers sit at the centerline of the axle tube.Sleeved lower link material. All joints are ballistic joints, 3" wide with 3/4" bolts.Lowers in, rear upper joint slid in place. This one is threaded to adjust pinion angle, lowers are fixed.Links in, tacked in place. I am worried that when it flexes, the lowers could come in contact with the uppers? Joey doesn't think they will hit. I hope to flex it out in the next couple days to see. If so i will have to redo the uppers to make some more room. There will be more bracing added in the upper link, once I am sure everything will clear. I am glad i did the links like this. With a flat belly i will slide right off and onto my links, nothing will be hanging down at all. This is around 2" over ride height, i think.
9/27/2009 9:41:37 PM
looking good! Do you think the flex joint will flex out/limit travel at all?
9/27/2009 11:17:29 PM
damn good job on the welds. i could care less about the jeep but im falling in love with all the fab work(no homo)
9/27/2009 11:51:00 PM
When it flexes, The joint body should only move about ~1/4" in relation to the box it is sitting in. There is more clearance than it looks like in the pictures. Hope it works!
9/28/2009 7:52:17 AM
It's looking great and the links shouldn't come close to hitting each other during flexing
9/28/2009 9:59:45 PM
This pic has something RLY Wrong with it guys!
9/28/2009 10:47:54 PM
you worried about the driveshaft clearance?
9/28/2009 10:53:19 PM
NOPE keep looking. Very easy to see.
