and my dumb ass bought soft silken tofu, not really paying attention/knowing there was a differenceso now I have 2 packages of this stuff and I don't know what to do with it. i'm an amazing cook, so give me some basic ideas and I'll improvise from there.i'll buy the firm shit next time so I can use it in my stir fry

chop it into small piecesmarinate it in a tasty yet healthy sauce let it sit overnightthen cook it in a skillet, throw in veggies and enjoyThe joy of tofu is that it absorbs the flavors of whatever it touches.

^^^ If you're trying to decrease your cholesterol intake, but maintain your protein, then tofu is a great choice. You can make it taste like other meats if you prepare it properly.[Edited on August 23, 2009 at 8:21 PM. Reason : .]
8/23/2009 8:21:28 PM
hey noweven turkey bacon don't taste like pork bacon
8/23/2009 8:27:29 PM
you're male; don't eat tofu.
8/23/2009 8:30:22 PM
^ True. Soy is not really great for men. Feminization ftl
8/23/2009 8:31:03 PM
you can blend it into a vegetable dip and add your favorite herbs and spices
8/23/2009 8:31:09 PM
blend it for a dip or make tofu scramble..neither choice is as good as the real thing.
8/23/2009 8:35:01 PM
dip it isor maybe in my smoothie tomorrow morning
8/23/2009 8:46:30 PM
um idk the differences in tofu but my mom used to fry it up and throw it in a stir fry with sesame ginger sauce. it was delicious.
8/23/2009 8:49:32 PM
see, i didn't think there was much of a difference eitherbut there's a huge difference. the silken shit falls apart in a wok
8/23/2009 8:53:07 PM
puree it and make a cheesecake (sub half the cream cheese for tofu)

This is all stuff you can do with firm tofu. Silken is like cottage cheese, or yogurt almost, all you can do with it is make whipped fillings and stuff.

RAWR RAWR, IM A MAN DAMMNIT, I DONT EAT TOFUwe get it ok, very impressive. And it doesn't turn you into a woman, I eat it often and I have pecks and a flat stomach, not boobs, and I'm constantly horny even if I had sex like four times that day, which i suppose is in itself a problem, although not a tofu related one.
8/23/2009 11:02:24 PM
^^ don't get me wrong, brother, I still eat my fair share of flesh. I just wanted to broaden my horizon.

my girlfriend is a pescatarian for a number of reasons, but one of them is healthshe doesn't care if i eat meat...she doesn't berrate me or mock me or withhold sex or give me dirty looks...in the spirit of respect and consideration, i encourage her to make me tofu dishes a couple of times a monthreally, tofu isn't bad...it is NOT a replacement for meat, in my mind, since the only thing it comes close to mimicking is chicken (which was impressive, i have to admit), but sometimes i just want some steak i'll eat it and i actually enjoy it

8/24/2009 9:44:41 AM
to each their owni didn't care for it, myself, but i still love an extremely rare steak...i flame-kiss the outside just long enough to kill any bacteria and to warm it up
8/24/2009 9:47:06 AM
also, most tartares you find at a restaurant will have some sort of seasoning. it's not like the chef is just plopping some raw ground beef on your plate. similarly, tofu won't just be plopped onto a plate either. there is seasoning and preparation involved
8/24/2009 9:54:23 AM
there are very few things i won't eat...asparagus is one, but tofu is not
8/24/2009 9:55:16 AM
i had a kobe beef burger served to me in Vegas medium rare and i nearly barfed on the table i am definitely not into the whole "rare meat" thingand now i want some kinda tofu from whole foods for lunch they make a balsamic roasted tofu salad that is just the bees knees [Edited on August 24, 2009 at 9:56 AM. Reason : .]
8/24/2009 9:55:53 AM
then again, if you ordered Kobe beef anything above medium rare, the waiter has the right to vomit all over you for ruining a great piece of meat
8/24/2009 9:56:59 AM
Grow a pair and get a steak.
8/24/2009 9:58:21 AM
^^it was a burger, not a steak. if it was a steak there would be no problem.i think serving kobe beef all ground up in a burger is just plain wrong, but that doesn't mean i wasn't willing to pay $22 for it in Vegas (and i ordered the burger medium)(and this was Burger Bar, aka no steaks)]

8/24/2009 5:53:53 PM
1) Throw all ToFu and soy products into the trash2) Place real meat onto grill/pan3) ...4) Profit!
