maybe all carbs have plastic pieces, i don't know...in any case, the carb on my scoot has plastic floats, but since it's out anyway (replacing the main jet), i figured i'd clean itcarb cleaner is less caustic, but brakes cleaner evaporates faster...neither is supposed to be used on plastic or rubber (supposedly)...suggestions?

carb cleaner is fine. The ONLY brake cleaners I use consist of heptane and isopropyl alcohol. Advance Auto's Wearever Gold brand fits the bill. So does Zep if you can find it. I can't stand those chlorinated solvent types, which are 99% of what's on the market.
