where can I get a hidden / reese / 2" receiver hitch for an '85 4runner?is there a universal hitch that will fit that you know of?anyone got a used one for sale?everyone's catalogs only seem to go back to '87

etrailer.com's fit guide goes past 87.Unfortunately they only have hitches for the 85 Yota Truck, Supra, Land Cruiser, and Van. Makes me think none of the major vendors make one for the 4Runner. Do you think the Yota Truck hitch would fit?

^^i'm not aware of any reason that one for an 87 wouldn't fit. personally, i would use this as an excuse to get a nice heavy duty tube (round or square) bumper. many of them come with an integrated class III/IV 2" receiver capable of pulling far more than the truck ever could.^it would probably bolt up, just might look funny depending on the style. the lower portions of the tailgate/rear quarter panels are a little different on the 4 runner vs. mini truck in relation to how they sit on the frame.

OR... make your own. cheap and easy. below is what i had on my 84. i let my little cousin use it as his first ever fab/welding project, and it was never really finished in terms of cosmetics and proper bracing/welds for heavy use, but you get the point. even at an amateur pace, what you see took all of an hour or so to slap together and used maybe $50-60 in steel (even by today's prices).[Edited on August 20, 2009 at 3:23 AM. Reason : .]

nice I'm unemployed right now, so the cheaper, the better..I was just trying to find a used one on CL, but no one seems to have the exact one to fit my application.

keep an eye on nc4x4 and pirate4x4. yotatech.com as well. dumbassery runs rampant there, but it's decent for classifieds. i'm sure Jeepman or someone might could throw something together for you fairly cheap also...
