Didnt know where else to put this, figured you garage people could help out.I'm looking for something to set up during tailgating to prevent me from running the truck stereo the whole time. Thought about some kind of a small portable (preferably rechargeable) generator/speaker setup, but I'm not aiming to spend more than 150-200 bucks.Any suggestions/recommendations?

get a harbor freight generator and an extension cordkeep both and an old shelf system in your bed...profit

you could go that wayor just get a good battery in your truck, install a small amp and two 6x9's. I've got enough speaker to place the speakers on top of the truck. it's what I do every game and i've never had an issue.

easiest way: boomboxmiddle: gas generator and stereo system of any sortharder: two batteries with an isolator. The second battery would be connected to a power inverter to power a stereo unit, or your car stereo. The music would stop when the battery died, and then the battery would be charged as you drove.hardest:Convert exercise bike to generator and make sure you have plenty of friends to keep pedaling.[Edited on August 20, 2009 at 6:25 PM. Reason : btw: anything decent will cost more than $200]

Buy a Deep Cycle Marine Battery for <$100. Swap out your truck battery, or just run it separate. We run several headlights in the water all night long when we go fishing, then have plenty left to crank the motor.

mount a couple of boat speakers in the back of the truck. they are waterproof so you can leave them there and not have to worry about them getting wet

i would go the second battery w/ isolator route personally.

^ but is that all possible without killing my wallet?

Seriously dude, just replace your truck battery with a marine one from walmart. The only difference I'm aware of is that they're heavier. Then crank your stock stereo.

a group 31 battery and 20 ft of 0awg wire should run you <175$ . if you're running a stock stereo you should able to tailgate for days w. that setup. you can get the isolator later since those aren't cheap.
