yeah, that's what I thought of when the video started. He should expand that idea and do a longer TED presentation and see how far he could take the audience participation, like with multiple people dancing on stage or see how far the audience's predictive power would go

The point is that the pentatonic scale is ingrained in humans (we can argue it's only ingrained in westerners, and only westerners from certain regions, but that's a separate argument) and they naturally know what note is next based on hearing it over time and the natural mathematical spacing of the notes.
