I know this seems really lame/cheesy, but does anyone know of anywhere in NC, preferably close-ish to raleigh, that might have a meadow-type vista where you could picnic or camp?likeor?

Though not a "meadow" Shelly Lake has some open fields.

do you have to be a meredith student to go on that big ass field they have on the northwest corner of the gorman/hillsborough intersection?
8/13/2009 8:00:43 AM
No.
8/13/2009 8:08:33 AM
is that the same as the shelly lake you're talking about?

Shelley Lake (correct spelling this time) is off Millbrook between Six Forks and Lead Mine Road.http://tinyurl.com/mzj6zaIt's got some larger fields. They probably don't fit the meadow spec very well.

^ Which arboretum? the one near campus? I don't know if that's "isolated" enough.I wonder if maybe there is a park like this near the mountains?

^^there's some isolated areas at the NCSU arboretum--you just have to walk around. there's a meadow like that with some bee boxes for beehives.^^^and yes the meredith field is mostly a soccer field now, and it's definitely not isolated. it's trespassing to go there after sunset, unless you are a female i suppose.

are you gonna propose?

http://ncartmuseum.org/museumpark/park_habitats.shtmlHow's that? An authentic 18th century NC prairie. Conveniently located behind the art museum with paved trails(assuming they haven't put some more stupid sculptures or other retarded art up there). You can even spout some bullshit about buffaloes or being one with nature, then be within 10 minutes of your apartment if things go right.

Don't remember the name of the park, but there's one at the intersection of Leesville and Millbrook. It used to be a horse farm and when the guy died he donated it to the parks system
