I had also never heard of Friendfeed before this thread. At first glance it looks exactly like a facebook clone. Did facebook just buy them to make them go away? What makes you think this is a significant event?

friendfeed is like the Firefox's Opera. I first heard of them this morning and it had nothing to do with FB.Something about Google indexing their updates at real time and them showing up instantly in searches.
