8/7/2009 3:58:52 PM
what kinds of places around campus or downtown would have this?
8/8/2009 9:09:34 PM
Anderson Silva just embarrased the fuck out of Forrest Griffin. He played w/ him Ali-style. I wanted Griffin to put up a good fight but that just didn't go well AT ALL. Didn't even stick around for the post-fight interview.
8/8/2009 11:59:52 PM
BJ Penn beat that ass.
8/9/2009 12:45:06 AM
Silva.. wow. Talk about tearing a guys heart out. Will be interesting to see what they throw at him next.

video?

I figured that Silva wold win by KO or TKO, but I didn't think Silva would make him look that foolish. Forrest is just too slow and plodding to stand with Silva and never even bothered attempting a takedown, which was just a bad strategy. I think most of the guys at 205 might actually be worse off against Silva than most middleweights are. Look how slow guys look against Machida and then consider how they would look against Anderson Silva. I think the rematch against Henderson (next title defense) and then a probable rematch against Marquardt are next in line for Anderson Silva, with the possibility of another fight at 205 between and then a shot at the 205 title. Best chance against Anderson Silva is still a powerful wrestler, and as much as I hate him and as much as I never want to see him win another fight I think Tito Ortiz might actually be a decent fight for Anderson Silva at 205.BJ Penn did what everyone knew he would, dominate another 155er. Florian never had a shot at taking him down and it was only a matter of time before BJ clipped him or put Kenny on his back. Once that happened it was academic.

a few thoughts1) Thank you BJ Penn, for giving us something I'd never seen before. Who thinks to lock in a RNC by kicking the guy in the liver from back mount? how many guys besides BJ could even pull it off without losing position?2) Apparently Anderson dislocated Forrest's jaw about midway through. Which would explain why he quit after that last shot and why he went running out immediately(to get to the hospital). still doesn't diminish what a clown Anderson made him look like 3) other than the co-main events, that was the worst card I've seen this year.

1. I wish the Hendricks fight had gone longer. Having never seen either of them fight, I enjoyed the brief bit of what I saw.2. Seems to me that Joe Rogan/Dana White pull the "Oh BJ Penn has never really asserted himself but he's totally rededicated to his training since his last fight and now he's in the best shape of his career" every time he fights. IMO, he did that like 5 years ago and he's been at his prime for a long time. St. Pierre was just too much for him.3. I'm starting to think they should put the weigh-in closer to the ring times now. I used to wrestle and remember people being able to lose 5 pounds of water weight in a short about of time but 15-20 pounds? Not all fighters can do that so you end up with these pretty big weight mismatches come fight time.
8/9/2009 8:31:10 AM
They should do weigh-ins before stepping into the ring. No more bullshit cutting - you weigh what you weigh. If you come in over, you forefeit a portion of your purse to your opponent.Just my .02.

I saw it at The Brickhouse last night. Whats up with them charging $30/table for watching UFC? I was sitting at the side bar by the bathroom. So, I didn't get charged. If I did, I would be off to somewhere else.Tobacco Road Sports Cafe on Glenwood South is showing UFC too. I think Champs at Triangle Town Center and Fox and Hound at North Hills maybe showing UFC now too. You may want to check with those places.

Read today that Silva said he would consider staying at 205 and give up the 185 belt. But then he said he wouldn't fight Mochida(sp?), and White said he'd make it happen but we'll see. Other fights would be Evans, Jackson, and Ortiz.Watched it at Tobacco Rd. Very crowded, but it is a good setup to watch and a decent atmosphere. Just gotta get there real early to get a table or just stand with everyone else and watch.Did anyone see the preview where they show BJ Penn jumping from 3ft of water up and out of the pool? That was awesome.

Silva wouldn't have a chance to duck someone in the UFC since they're contract fighters and not promoters like in boxing.

None of my underdogs won. The whole card pretty much went to all the fighters who were expecting to win.1) Florian had a horrible game plan. All he did was try to wear BJ out, but then by the 4th round, he realized it wasn't working. I think he should have stuck with his muay thai and throw a lot more leg kicks. He was very one dimensional in his striking. He threw some lazy superman punch that was easily countered.2) Most entertaining fight was the Silva/Griffin fight. Forrest got tooled.3) I was afraid Amir would get dominated. And he did. We've only seen him fight once in real life against a guy he arm barred twice in a row, so I kind of felt he was overratted.

Oh, he only put his heart and soul into the sport he has put everything into and barely landed a hit. Watch all his punches just get dodged and got played with like a cat and mouse.
8/10/2009 8:28:59 PM
griffins camp confirmed he wasnt hurt at allAt least my man RASHAD stayed in the ring after his first loss (brutal KO) owned his loss, addresed the crowd, and congratulated the new champ before exiting the ring with the class of a true championi love forrest but the running out of the ring is just somethin ive never been down withon another note MY MAN BJ SAYS FUCK THE HATERS, eat that shit bitches, no one in LW world wide can touch BJ and the only 2 people in the UFC LW division that can even touch Kenny is Gray Maynard and Diego Sanchez ( i think both would beat him in competitive fights) The Amir stoppage was completely fair IMO he was done even though he recovered instantly i feel bad for Amir, amir looked huge in WW and he was only 166 at weigh ins and he looked great in the beginning before getting caught with that hook, hes a much better fighter than that that was a tough break though[Edited on August 10, 2009 at 10:23 PM. so is there anyone near silva's weight that could take him without losing in the first round?
8/10/2009 10:33:40 PM
i think henderson could put on another good fight, but hed definitely lose againI think Nate Marquardt would give him a better fight now than he did the first timeoutside of that Yushin Okami, but for yushin to have success it would wind up not being a fan friendly affair.at 205 it goes without sayin Lyoto, but i think rashad could give him a good fight if the damn man would use his wrestlign again i think shogun if he fought like hell for the takedown and actually kept silva there and relied on highly defensive jiu jiitsu and his hips and grappling speed to continualy strike silva while keeping him on his back hed have a shot, i dont think shogun would be able to get in that range if tito didnt crumble when he gets hit with consecutive strikes hed have a chanceVitor i think would give him a good fight at MW, but at 205 hes gonna just be tooo damn small thats not the weight for him anymore but unfortunately thats what hes gonna be fighting ati dont think anyone else has a chancei think rampage would lose in more embarassing fashion than forrest, hendo at 205 would do way worse than he would at MW, vera would get clowned, jon jones would get clowned hes much much too youngkeith jardine would bring the fight to him but hes just not talented enough but jardines akward and unpredictable striking wouldnt be something Silva could just slip and bob while standing in range, silva would have to get out of range cuz jardine hits hardis gegard mousasi came to the UFC id love to see him take on Silva, i dont think hed win but that would not be an easy fight for AS

I need two things I refuse to search for on google.Silvas weight class and what he can go up to and down to.Pierres weight class and what he can go up to and down to.thx

silva is 185, and has been back and forth between the 205lb division, has fought in the past at 170theres a rumor anderson is gonna vacate the MW title and finish out his career at 205)GSP is 170 and aint goin nowhere, but he needs to fight at 185[Edited on August 10, 2009 at 10:54 PM. Reason : f]
8/10/2009 10:53:50 PM
I have an idea...Lyoto Machida should vacate 205 and kick the crap out of Lesnar for HW title.Anderson should vacate 185 and clean out the 205 division.GSP can move up to 185 and claim Anderson Silva's vacated belt.BJ Penn can move up and finally not get his butt kicked.

I wish Chuck were still in his prime. He fell so far so fast I kinda wish he could get some traction and redeem himself. Does he even have a fight coming up anytime soon? I don't think he definitively addressed any retirement questions.
8/11/2009 11:45:40 AM
i think Dana has backed off his "forced" retirementso we'll see, I feel the same as you it hurt me when he lost to Shogun
